Okay guys....here's phone pic of the prototype 90% complete.
Finishing touches will be done by tomorrow.
Thank jdmsneakerhead for donating his OEM hood to cut up.
I'll try to have the mould done by next weekend.

Another amazing JDP creation....I never had a doubt. IMO, looks even better than the Tracy hood...this will give the JDM guys something to be jealous of!!!
I can't wait to get this on the car

Hey guys, this hood looks awesome! Maybe a stupid question, but will there be some kind of mesh on the opening to keep leaves and stuff out? Not that that's any kind of a deal breaker...just a curiosity of mine since my car sits under a big maple tree all night, and I hate cleaning crap out of the engine bay. More importantly I'm trying to decide if it's something I need or just REALLY want
You guys did an awesome job getting this together though!

Mesh isn't a bad idea...this could be quickly fabbed up after a visit to the local craft store for mesh and rubber cement (or my personal favorite...bumper repair kit).
I don't think anybody really "needs" any aftermarket part...otherwise Honda would have provided it when you bought the car.

Still contacting my sources for that material...all i know is that it's more expensive than the regular carbon....but I'm waiting for my sources to contact me back with pricing. I'll let you know by next week.
I don't know what source you use, but in my experience uscomposites has been great for those hybrid-type fabrics... I'm sure that doesn't help you much since you have a business doing this stuff and your suppliers are probably much more reasonably priced then us composites

Just curious why you're interested in the kevlar/ carbon composites. I know kevlar offers excellent abrasion resistance, but I would assume that doesn't matter much on the hood of a car. Is it for the look? Because kevlar/ carbon cloth looks pretty awesome in different colors. Although I guess even in the plain carbon instance, it's really only for the look anyway since it won't be carbon clear through the hood. Just curious... it is really cool stuff though!
Still on the fence...
