Self driving fit!

Somehow I happened upon comma.ai and their open-source auto driving project. $850 or so later and my 2019 fit ex will cruise down the highway, my hands off the wheel. Works extremely well - hope to get some videos to post tomorrow.

Very impressive!

Yes, but doing it a zillion times better than stock. No bouncing between the lines, just stays in the middle of the lane. Facial recognition to make sure you are paying attention, and no need to touch the wheel. And can detect lanes when the stock system can't. Really apples and oranges vs the honda system.

Short video during my drive to work. I have to adjust my camera to see more out the windshield.

It doesn't handle sharp-ish turns, because it's limited in how much torque it is allowed to apply to the wheel. Works great on the highway though.

I've looked into the system, if you check out YouTube there are some well-made videos on it working and comparing it to Tesla autopilot. There are also videos on the history of the company. I'm still on the fence, it's hard to justify $1000 purchase to my wife just to have my car drive me around. On the other hand, I have to deal with Commuter traffic in the San Francisco bay area, and driving for 2+ hours each way gets old Really fast.

I just got my comma ai installed in my 2019 Fit. Agree it works pretty well on the highway but steering torque input is limited so be ready to take over whenever there is a sharp turn! For those who didn't realize it until its installed and working, the comma ai device uses its own camera, not your vehicle's factory camera. There is just enough room inside the plastic sensor cover so give yourself sufficient mental reserve to get frustrated while trying to cram everything into it! I take it off the wind shield while not driving my Fit so it dosen't get too hot under the sun or give people a reason to break into my car!

@Runchman @databasedoctor This sounds amazing. Are either of you able to provide instructions on how to take off the LKAS cover? I couldn't find anything out there. Also, do you know if it relies on the LKAS camera as my current camera failed so I'm wondering if I would have to replace the OEM camera at the same time.

It would be great if you have any other updates on your experiences with the comma.ai, but I'm mostly concerned about getting the cover off.
