well it runs smoother. kinda feels like my engine isnt work as hard ya know?

um...accerlation is better by a bit.(enough to notice).

i got lazy and i didnt do an oil change till 4k. and it was barely gritty.

where as mobil 1 it was somewhat gritting.

i took it up to san Francisco and back down to san diego(1.3k miles)
and it was smooth as butter man.

i mean its like 1 dollar more a quart then mobil 1 synthetic. i changed over from mobil 1 synthetic to mobil 1 synthetic extended. and that wasnt doing it for me, then i started to use royal purple and im totally satisfied.

some people dyno there cars on socal prelude and socal civic witha 3-5whp gain from using royal purple.

royal purple for engine oil
and gm sychromesh or redline for tranny fluid.

i only put the best in my cars.

its definitely worth the money.

i mean its like 7 bucks a quart. but still you notice a HUGE difference.
You notice a HUGE difference by using a different brand of motor oil?

You can't be serious.

No offense. I am a big proponent of synthetic oil, it is no question that it is a superior product to dino oil, but you are experiencing some serious placebo effect there man.

No, but that's okay.

I'm very, very happy for you. No really.

That and some vinyl and man, the sky is the limit.
i only put the best in my cars.
I agree with that 100%.

I ran a bunch of different oils in my STi because it used a bit of oil from the day it was new. I landed on Pennzoil Platinum 5W40 because the car burned less of that than any other and there were no downsides I could see. Mobil1 was a disaster; the car drank that water at twice the rate of any other oil I tried.

For the Fit my goal is efficiency. I'll probably start with Pennzoil Platinum again at the lowest viscosity recommended Honda. It's very, very good oil, pure synth, cheaper than Royal Purple, and much easier to find where I live.

Hi everyone, I am new here and just got my fit a month ago. Its almost time to do my 1st oil change. I was at Formula Drift event in Vegas and noticed a lot of the high performance Japanese car/engine were using ENEOS full synthetic motor oil " #1 in Japan". Anyone try or using this oil, it is pricey at $9.99 /ct retail but everyone I spoke to said its the best motor oil for Japanese cars.

Any suggestions or feedbacks is helpful. Thanks in advance.

With that said, How would one take advantage of free oil changes from the dealer? Would it be detrimental or even worth the 6 bucks cost savings of a OEM filter to get the free filter and oil change from the dealer? And then go home and drain the free mystery bulk oil and fill with the synthetic of your choice?

Here is something I found on the top motor oils for your engine...

AMSOIL ATM
Mobil 1 Extended Performance
Quaker State Advanced Full Synthetic
Pennzoil Platinum
Trop Artic
Motorcraft
Castrol GTX
Chevron Supreme
Havoline
Formula Shell
Pennzoil

The site...Tests prove AMSOIL synthetic oil beats the 10 top competing motor oils.

The thought never crossed my mind. I always figured that it'll end up costing more to ask the dealer to pour in syntheic than the 20 bucks I'd spend on a 5qt jug of mobil1.

It will always be more at the dealer...to change your oil;
Your paying for taxes, oil, labor and removal of the soiled product however it is just for me piece of mind knowing the dealer has everything on file...as far as oil changes etc. Now if something goes wrong they have all my documentation on service done.
That's just me though.
I used to change my own oil on my older cars....just don't want to do it anymore. Good Luck!

hmmm..i thought pennzoil had that wax additive or what not. and it wasnt good for the engine.

meh...thats what i heard at several different shops. some dudes at kragen said that, and express lube. ez-lube.

not sure if it was true, but i believed them.

but for the fit i think its huge.

when gas wasnt so dam expensive i was running my car pretty hard. and i didnt burn oil. thats what i loved about it. i experienced some oil burning with mobil 1 though..

doesnt feel sluggish i would say.

that's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while, doesn't like it, lol,

synthetic oil is stronger 'better' oil, this is true, however that is not to say that regular oil is not perfectly adequate for normal driving,

i would recommend synthetic, ,any brand, because it is a better choice, a higher quality, higher protection, espically since most of us drive are cars hard, high revs etc.
if you live near a kragen they often have synthetic on sale for 99 cents a quart, for name brands like valvoline, cant beat that!

you can also switch back and forth, (dont know why you really would) between convential and synthetic, with no problem

and i am so sick of hearing about Pennzoil and 'wax', there is no wax, it is perfectly fine oil

When I was in High School, my friend's dad worked at a mobil plant and was part of the 1,000,000 Mile engine prject using Synth Oil. Straight from his mouth; "I believe in it".

I've used it in my vehicles since 1993.

Will, my idea of going to the dealer to take advantage of free oil changes and going home and drain the dealer mystery bulk oil and fill with the synthetic of my choice, be detrimental to the engine? End result being a free oem filter and bulk oil to put into the wife's honda...
