What's a good mounting adhesive?

So here's the problem...

I've got myself a little Garmin for my GE, but I want to mount on the dash directly to the left of the center vents instead of on the little side windows. I have the little flat disc that you're supposed to use with the suction cup mount but I can't find an adhesive that will stick to the dash when it heats up.

I could always permanently mount it with super glue, but I would like the option of removing it if/when I ever get an in-dash navi.

Even the "permanent" mounting adhesives that I've tried will not work. Also, I thoroughly cleaned the area with alcohol before trying.

Any ideas/suggestions?

I'd go with velcro tape. Take it off when you want and sturdy.

shoe goo aint bad, but it might mess up the finish on the dash or use those 3m command strips

I've tried both the 3M removable mounting tape and the permanent mounting tape and both come off when my dash heats up.

I also tried these things called Glue Dots. They worked really well for a while, but then we had another couple days in the high 70s here.

I want it to sit pretty flush with the dash, so I'll leave velcro as a later option.

I'm tempted just to say "F*ck it!" and super glue it down.

its meant for exterior moldings on cars...so it can withstand heat, cold, and rain. as long as the serface you mount the tape on is clean and doesnt have any dash protectant on it, it should stick great.

as far as taking it off, im not sure. but goo-gone can remove just about anything, so it can probly remove any residue from this tape.

I tried the molding tape last night, so I'll see if it holds up today. The real rest will be in the summer when the outside temp reaches the 110s.

3M double sided tape didn't work for me. Hope it works for you. Will have to suction the unit to the windshield next to the rear view mirror.
