Poor Gas Mileage

Poor Gas Mileage
I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport edition.
I am currently getting 430KM per tank and have been averaging anywhere from 7.6L/110K (The best I have ever gotten) up to 10.8L/100K. This is WELL below what the car is rated for by www.fueleconomy.gov.
I have done no modifications, have stock tires with proper PSI on them and I don't drive like a lunatic.
Any thoughts on why the mileage is so bad? Are others experienceing the same issues Any thoughts on fixes?
Thanks!

I average 34 Mpg (6.91 l/100K) over the 43,000 miles (70,000 K) in the last 18 months since I bought the car.
The major factor is how much motorway driving you do compared to city.
For example I drive 140 (225 K) miles each day going to and from work and I fill up every other day with about 8 gallons (30 L) . I do this at 70 - 80 MPH (110 - 125 Kph) on the freeway and 30 (45 kph) or so on the surface streets. It is about 98% freeway. Add to this a few miles here and there and I do 300 (480 K) miles every 2 days.
On the other hand
The other week I did 300 miles all in town and had to fill up 8 gallons (30 L) at 220 (354 K) miles rather than the 300 (480 K) that I normally do.
It all depends on the road mix of your driving, your heavy or light foot, shift points in a manual, and quite a few other factors. Looking at your reported (430 K) 267 miles. This says to me that you are driving in town more than 50%, or heavy footed or both.
All in all your not very far off of normal. A few slight adjustments and you would be right in the reported range.

I am happy with my 09 Auto. Most of my driving is hwy. I go to Brampton once a week at 120kph. I just filled up on Wed when the warning light came on. I was at 475 km. Fill up was 37 liters for $35. I am running on snows too.

your from canada man... unless your driving in like 90 degree weather... the coldness will always own your car in all different directions.
air is denser = car doesn't not move thru it as easily.
colder engine = longer engine warm up time
your most likely using more accessories such as the A/C compressor.
cold weather = winter blend fuel which also equals to crapy gas miles
Higher Altitude = crappy gas milages as well.
some of the things i have listed could be controversial, so feel free to state that any of those are miss leading or wrong.
