Jimmy: Did you rekey it so your main key works in it? I don't know why someone would want to rekey it if it comes with its own key.

I haven't had it done, but I can understand. The lock cap comes with keys that look identical to the car key so it can get confusing and cumbersome because it's so big. If it were the size of a mail box key or a house key, I won't consider having it made.

Yes, I did it so my ignition key would work in it.
I carry around enough keys and didn't want an extra key to carry.

Anyone know what the real part # is for the cap?
Just order it from http://www.collegehillshonda.com/hon...s/exterior.htm , probably save you some money too.

How did you guys get the locking gas cap to stay on? The clip for the original gas cap was way too small

I got mine rekeyed as well. Cost me 20$ plus tax. Much better than having two keys.

I am looking for a locking gas cap for my Fit in Vancouver, BC. I've tried asking Honda from the AutoMall and they say that they don't carry that part. I've also tried going to different auto places to look for them, but they all say that the Fit is too new for them to carry a part for it. Please advise!!

You guys should check Canadian Tires (or auto parts store). My friend who owns an Element (which apparently has the same gas cap), got one at CT and have been using it for 2 years without issues.

He no longer has the product code but he said that he just went in and looked for a "Honda" locking gas cap. It was about $30. I'm going to try there was I get my car.

Hey thanks!

I just called Canadian Tire again and just ask for the Honda Element 03-06 locking gas cap. They have it for $20, but only two left. lol.
