Fit air system- rats and chicken
Several chicken breasts. Maybe 1.5 pounds. Was all across under dash. I've had mice and nests before, but always on the other side of the air filters. How could an animal get into that duct? The smell now is awful. I pulled out all that I could see and reach. If it's not rats (I parked all night at a chicken restaurant that puts garbage out on the curb).... If not rats, I was "attached"??? I tried to add the photos to the post.
Wow! What year is your Fit? I know the cabin air intake on the 2008 is easily accessible to rats, squirrels, or anything smaller, and they will wreak havoc once in there.
I pulled out my cabin air filter to find it had been a "hang out" for a rat, who filled it with piss, shit, discarded food, etc. It chewed up the inside/outside air flap, and tried to chew through the filter, but luckily didn't make it out of the box and into the cabin. A simple wire screen on the air intake under the cowl would have prevented all of this.

I used to use peppermint oil along some of the pleats of the cabin air filter. Supposedly a good nice deterrent, but more so for the pleasant smell whenever the HVAC is used. Makes the filter somewhat dingy from the oil, but cabin filters are cheap and they get replaced every oil change.
You're supposed to do those on the exhaust manifold, I thought:

ive had some mice hanging out on my transmission lately.toasty warm flat bed since stock airbox is out the way ...im running prm intake. started with a small chicken bone and a bed made with itch ball fuzz. so i knew to check blower filter and area your chicken is in. they havnt made it that far and havnt started chewing stuff up yet...thankfully.
if your cowl is fastened properly there isnt much room for a rat to fit chicken thru. make sure the small flexible plastic piece immediately to the left (if your facing windshield from front bumper) is attached. it just pushes in with rubber grommet things. if thats missing then maybe rats. if thats intact then someone played a prank on u and opened that cover you did and shoved chicken in there.
u also might want to button down cowl...ur missing at least 1 snap...if you dont have any u can use a ziptie like i did.
