Thoughts on long distance travel.

I am planning a long trip with my wife and daughter to Brisbane for a vacay. I have driven this route twice. Once on a Yaris this car made me chuckle on the way. Another time on a KIA sportage ( boring, but reliable car). I don't know why but most new cars I buy have to make this trip lol.

How will the Jazz/ fit do? want to know your thoughts.

Sydney to Brissy is about 915 km or 568miles.

Well?

I drove my Fit from Milwaukee to Montreal (1100ish miles each way) two years ago. About 700 miles in I stopped and slept for a few hours in the Fit. On the way back I stopped in the middle and visited a friend, but 2200 miles driven in 4 days is a fair bit. It did totally fine.

It did fine, though my air conditioning didn't (still doesn't) work, so it was really hot.

Nioce! Sounds amazing. I drove from L.A. to San Diego back to Anaheim. Then to San Francisco then from the BAY to Vegas on a GMC SUV. Good memories is what counts.

Drove around UAHO, Hawaii as well.

I will be taking pics on the way.

I drive 3400 km Toronto/Edmonton. Google maps says it can be done in just over 32hrs straight except that I'm not a spring chicken anymore, so I drive, snooze for a bit, drive, snooze.... I will be doing it again this summer, as I did last summer.

Years ago, I managed to drive about 1700 km straight in my old Integra in 24hrs. Can't do that anymore.

All I can say is that I'm so glad I did the sound deadening b/c my ears aren't ringing so badly and I can snooze in relative quiet.

I also used to take shorter trips of say 400 km Toronto/Ottawa and sleep sideways in the rear seat in a sleeping bag. I'm not that tall at 5'6" so I can be comfortable that way.

I don't know if there is a big difference between an Aussi and the Fit with CVT in the US, but I have driven mine from Houston to Los Angeles (over 3300 RT miles, 5280 km) a couple of times. I got 40 mpg (5.88 liter/100 km). I usually drive 800 miles (1280 km) or more each day.

We've taken our '15 LX manual on several 1200 mile round trip vacations, it's been fine. I've just learned to tune out the 3500 rpm@70 mph noise. Wife occasionally uses "refresh mode" ... Obviously it ain't a highway cruiser by design, more a city car, but it's fine for my purposes

My regular trip going home to visit the parents/friends. The Fit is a competent long distance vehicle. Just not as quiet in the interior like some BMW's I've been in. It is an economy sub compact after all. Hope your trip in the Fit turns out good.

The fit is adequate in many ways, including long distance travel. It's not the best at anything, but a Swiss army knife of sorts.

I've had it it on numerous 7-8 hour trips without issue. It actually had more comfortable seats than my 2004 4runner, but comfort is subjective. It's definitely not a quiet vehicle. At least the CVT has a lower RPM at cruising speed.

2010 Fit Sport Tidewater Blue.

Drive New Jersey to Florida about 4 times a year. One way mileage of 1,041 miles. Usually drive straight through, about 16 hours depending on traffic. Keep it at about 72 mph, get about 37 mpg, make two gas stops. No problems at all.

Indeed, tested the cruise control today which will come in handy on long stretches. It's not bad. As for the seats i am kind jelly about the Mazda2 seats and interior. It's more posh than our fit. But room wise we win by a landslide. The noise took a while to get used to. But now it doesn't bother me.

It's a great travel car. We've driven from Tampa Bay west to Wyoming, north to Michigan and Maine, and every state in between these last 5 summers. It holds a ton and it's a terrific conveyance.

Corona Virus just shutdown that plan. The borders from Sydney to Brisbane is close as of now.

So we have decided to go to a coastal town North Sydney about 5 hours away.
