Does a '19 Fit phone home?
Does a '19 Fit phone home?
In MA, Question 1 on the November ballot is a right-to-repair issue dealing with wireless data transmitted by new cars, and whether or not independent repair shops should have access to it.
I like to go to an independent mechanic, not because of the usual antipathy toward "stealerships," although I do share some of that. I like the guy down the street because I *know* him. I know the actual guy who is going to be doing the work on my car. I can talk to him. And -- perhaps equally important -- he knows me. He knows my car. He knows what he did last time, what the behavior was, what we discussed, what we talked about doing but decided not to for now, and what the whole scenario is. I'm going to keep going to an independent mechanic for these reasons.
My question to the FitFreak braintrust is:
1. Does a 2019 FIt phone home?
2. Does my independent mechanic need the data, to do a good job fixing my car?
Thanks,
Urb
