Recall - Axles in Snow States
Over the years we've seen a ton of people reporting broken axles due to corrosion. Looks like Honda is finally acknowledging the issue -
Honda Recall
Just came here to post

I actually submitted a complaint last month to nhtsa focusing on the safety aspects as mine had failed leaving me well exposed to traffic and almost caused a collision as my car would roll in park. I mentioned that the car started to roll as I was leaving the vehicle almost causing an accident.
Maybe it just took someone pointing out that this was a safety issue not just an inconvenience.
I wonder if the people who already got the problem fixed can get a free halfshaft.

I wonder if there's actually going to be any revision to the parts themselves or if, rather, they'll just install a new set of the same part and call it a day since most cars will be end of life before the second one will corrode enough to be a problem.
Good question. Tough to know for sure, but I'm guessing they removed the rubber isolator thing from the design. It seems to me that's where salt collects and the axles corrode from the images I have seen posted on here.
From what I read it looks like they haven’t figured out what they are doing for parts yet so we will see if they modify them or not. Truthfully most vehicles will be in the scrapyard by the time the second one fails in the salt belt. I know my 2007 was pretty close to dead in 2020 as far as “frame” rust.
So 15 years which is about 2 sets of axles should send the car to its grave.
