Whoops, I stand corrected. Do you think they'll ever sell Fits in the US again? I would think with rising gas prices the Fit would be more desirable than previously.

Oil prices go up, oil prices go down. Would you be prepared to give Honda your personal guarantee that oil prices will not go down again in say the next 5 years making the Fit unviable in the midst of starting production up again? Keep in mind there is no longer any factory to make the Fits in. Design work has to be done (the old GK design is dead ), a new factory built, new tooling made, suppliers brought on board. a thousand employees hired and trained .... And would a new Fit simply pull customers away from other Honda cars like the Civic leaving no overall gain for Honda? This is not a decision made lightly.

The Honda road handling is near the top. For a car that has a body of a van...it does great. (I measured almost a mile straight...with my hands off the wheel last week.)
Gas mileage...always 40 in the summer...a few less in the winter.
Cargo capacity...with the magic seats, there is no other that compares.
Fun to drive...I'm cheating a little here because I use a Sprint Throttle controller. Along with a sai and tanabe exhaust...it rips through the gears. The m/t is the best.
Comfort of driving...The drivers seat fits me perfectly. I added the Honda center armrest and it's like driving from my living room recliner.
Didn't your's came with the center armrest?

There is a new Fit GR/GS designed and in production, it's just not sold in North America. It's available in e.g. Japan, Europe, Taiwan, Singapore, China, New Zeland and South-Africa.

It was designed for the Asian market. Since it was not intended to be sold in North America it may not meet safety/crash standards here. Honda has discontinued the Fit here and seems quite happy promoting/developing its replacement, the HRV.

It likely meets/exceeds US car safety, but why spend the money to get it approved here when Americans would rathwr pay more for the worse car (hrv)

Asian and European markets! I am pretty sure new Fit was already designed before Honda made the decision to not sell it in North America. That means that there is likely a designed provision for fulfilling US standards.

We bought ours specifically for carrying bikes. I can easily put one in, complete, front wheel still attached. Two can be done but it takes some fiddling. I also like the magic seats. We don't use them a lot but they are handy to have.

How did you position the bike? I don't have a bike so when my dad asked to take his to the service, I had no idea how to actually fit it in and ended up having to remove the front wheel. Not the end of the world but pretty annoying especially since I though that it would fit in one piece.

Gotten to drive several Fits, only been an owner of one for about a week now. I always loved how tossable they are, how easy they are to service, and their MPG. Only thing stopping me from buying one sooner was purchase price, but I made that work.

Suspension. It should have been double wishbone front and multi rear lol. Not as fun as the old Honda's in the 90's cough, cough EK, EG, tiggy and crx.

Apart from that it's a all good.

It's simplicity (leading to ease of maintenance), fuel economy, cargo capacity, price of upgrades/replacement parts.

+1 above...
It is simple and cheap to run, yet isn't something that reminds you that you're in a cheap car.
It's airy and easy to see out of (except sometimes the A-pillars can hide a pedestrian).
The manual is fantastic (even better with the Buddy Club short shifter and a good shift knob).
It's a fun car to drive too (especially with some lighter wheels and sticky tires). And while it's no exotic, it has a cute little bulldog look about it (especially in Sport trim with some nice wheels).

I've toyed with the idea of replacing my 08 with something like a Civic Si sedan (or CSX Type-S) with the K20, but can't bring myself to lose that practicality and ease of use.

After holiday trip to northern Norway mountain roads I'm even more happy with the performance. Even with four people and luggage it accelerates swiftly to uphill. Just shift down to get the rpm between 4000 and redline. The engine really likes to be revved!

I honestly don't know what other car is "small outside, big inside" like the Fit. Also, I have a golden orange Fit, so it's beautiful and easy to spot in a big parking lot. Basically, the Fit is the perfect urban car.

Its economical, handles great, zips through the gears, fits my mountain bike, or paraplane.

Recently bought an antique coffee table on a road trip, it actually fit inside, blowing my mind.
Had to run my great dane to the vet a few days ago, he actually had plenty of room inside, and he generally never fits inside a car.

It has been so reliable, and everything is easy to service.
The car does everything great from road tripping, to running errands.

Sure it lacks ground clearance for offroad and snow days, then i drive my jeep.
