Street parking in (and near) DC is like that. My GK5 fits pretty much anywhere. For context, one of the first jobs I had involved frequently delivering packages into DC for a small company my mom runs. At the time, I had a battered old Chevy Silverado I got from one of my grandmother's friends. That thing forced me to get very good at parallel parking very quickly, but it was always a chore finding spots.

That's also how you brake in low speed traffic here.

When driving thru a parking lot looking for an open space....when seeing one, I can just spin the wheel into the spot. No matter which side..it makes the turn.
Any other vehicle....stop...back up...pull ahead...back up...etc.

Ya just gotta know when to pick your battles.

Recently, I had a guy in a 2000's ish Subaru wagon try taking my Fit from a 20mph rolling start. He initially was miffed that I changed lanes into the spot ahead of him while leaving an intersection.
He tried cutting around me, but I just made sure to have the engine at a high RPM to out-accelerate him when he had the chance to cut around me (going into the slow lane to pass).
I saw him go into the lane, but he just couldn't get enough speed in the small amount of time he had available.

WELL DONE .

There's a local road where it's easy to do this, with a modicum of luck, planning & speed. Without breaking any laws . Due to 2 right hand turn lanes at traffic lights. followed by an unrestricted, single lane popular left turn into town. NB Whilst the steering wheels of our cars are on the right, we drive on the left side of our roads. It's always nice to able to stop them from cheating
