subwoofer earthing

hi,

I've just installed a new subwoofer, for under the drivers seat.

Due to the aftermarket power kit, having a small ring on the earth cable. I haven't, yet, been able to earth it, under a seat bolt. So am getting static shock & hair raising when close enough to the outside of the doors. Which I am hoping is because of a poor earth connection. Which is currently fixed to one of the bolts holding the centre console in place, as shown above.

IS under a seat bolt OK? OR ???

thanks in advance
david

Your connection to the ground must be good, direct on metal. What you have done is not good. So the seat bolt is not a good place either...
There are probably ground bolts somewhere near the door sill (under the plastic piece) or under the seat if you remove it. At least, there was some when I redid my 00 Civic floor...

I've used seat bolts before, sandwiched the connector between the bolt and the seat. It seemed to work fine, is there a reason to avoid it? My thought was that the seat has to be mounted strongly enough that the bolt must go into the structure of the car.

My only concern was that the seat do not end up crooked because of the wire...

in all cases, must be a good contact with metal!
