Advice for buying used Fit ?

Looking to get one, probably an automatic. I live in New England btw. Any advice on what to look for when buying one ? I've heard the engines are pretty much bulletproof If you change the oil regularly.

Go on youtube and get as much information as possible about buying a used Fit.

If possible,
Bring a friend that already has a Fit with you when looking at a used Fit.

Don't buy the first Fit you see. Make a list of Fits you're interested in. Look at every Fit on your list. Then make a decision in a few days or whatever time frame you're comfortable with. Take your time. Don't rush into this.

Don't let a seller bully you into buying their Fit on the spot. If the seller bullies you into buying walk out immediately. Don't bargain or negotiate with the bully seller. Just leave.

I'd say considering youre in New England, you might want to keep an eye on rust levels. It it looks fairly clean, thats a good indicator that it was well taken care of. But then again rust is inevitable with salted roads I guess. What is your price range?

Price range is probably in the 10K range. I would like a truck, as I am constantly working on my Olde New England house, but truck prices are ridicules. The Ford Maverick hybrid is interesting, but 2 days ago I did hear Toyota is going to build a Maverick contender, so eventually I'll probably get it. But thats not for a few years.
I also travel to Plum Island quite a bit as well, so a few rough gravel roads are in the future too. On a side note I have a Mazda 3, and it collected 2 inches of gravel in the under engine pan!
My biggest question is where to look for a fit ? Autotrader, CarGurus, Facebook Marketplace. Tried Craigslist, but mostly high mileage rusty cars.
BTW also looked at the Ford Fiesta, and it is very similar, but prices are about the same. Any other places I should look?

If you plan to drive on gravel regularly please do NOT buy a Fit. The Fit is a great urban car but it's not designed and built for unpaved roads. I have driven my Fit on a forest service road (all gravel) once in GA and it took me almost an hour to travel 5 miles. The Fit is low to the ground so you have to be extra careful when over any uneven surface, and no matter how slow you drive you will kick up lots of stones hitting the car underbelly. The Fit also has a very stiff suspension. The lack of "cushion" in the ride means you will feel every bump as the wheels roll over the small stones. I felt my brain was about to be shaken out of the skull and dreaded every second on that road. I will never drive my Fit on a gravel road again unless it's perfectly flat and no more than half a mile long.

Its only once in awhile and the road isn't that bad, it was OK with the Mazda 3. I imagine the ride between a Fit and Mazda 3 isn't that different

I’ve seen two folks in a Honda Fit go further down a poorly maintained path than my friend and I went in a Subaru Crosstrek. Normal cars (like Fits) can do way more than people give them credit for.

Fit is fine on gravel roads.
