Replace Serpentine Belt?
Know It All.
You are assuming that you know what Honda considers acceptable limits for their production standards. Maybe Honda makes every final decision based on cost. Maybe not. (Unless, of course, you have evidence to support your assumptions.) Generalizations about "product engineering" sound good, but that could be a broad brush that you are painting with.
The "Know It Alls" badly need a boost to their fragile egos.
If you don't think the purpose of a forum like this is for folks who know things to share and assist those who have questions, what you do you think it's for?
Note: I'm almost positive that several of the "Know It Alls" and "Einsteins" that you keep disparaging are current or former dealership service techs. So, I guess I can see why you would get frustrated when they're sharing knowledge for free that you have to pay for.
Frustrated?
Hardly.
My Honda Dealer, believe it or not treats me very well.
You assume all Honda Dealers are bad.
There are great Honda Dealers out there.
Don't like going to a Honda Dealer for maintenance?
I got no problem with that.
You maintain your Honda the way you want.
I'll do the same.

Half the time I honestly have no clue what you think you're reading when you respond.
You're complaining about "Know It Alls" offering assistance on a forum where people come to ask for assistance.
When you ask a question here, do you not want someone knowledgeable to respond? Just the other day you asked about valve stem replacement. Were you hoping that someone would just make something up with no basis in reality or that someone experienced and knowledgeable about wheels and tires would help you?
To repeat myself from my previous post: Why do you go to the dealership if you don't want a "Know It All" to work on your car?
In other words, what in the world are you complaining about?

The best way to inspect it is to remove it. Then, why bother to put the old belt back on? 😁
Why do you take your car to the dealership? Presumably because they know more than you about maintaining and repairing it, right?

With all due respect, the Internet is the least reliable source of information that we have. It is a completely flat, completely horizontal presentation of content that alleges to be "data." There is no hierarchy of value, no discrimination and absolutely nothing can be authenticated.
1) They have the imprimatur of the OEM.
2) It is difficult to find a good mechanic.
3) An IRL dealership offers levels of accountability (the tech, the service writer, the service manager, the general manager, the owner, the OEM itself).

You are instead selecting a relatively obscure/small forum where you presumably hope to encounter folks with some experience or knowledge of the Honda Fit, in a effort to maximize your chances of receiving useful assistance. Correct?
Moreover, I can only assume that amongst the folks who frequent this site you almost certainly lend more credence to the responses of a select few individuals who have demonstrated a wealth of useful knowledge and experience, right?
When I responded to Chitown Fit's whining about "Know It Alls" who "badly need to boost their fragile egos," I was trying to understand the scenario where someone would ask a question and not want a response from someone with knowledge and experience. But, maybe I'm the only one.
Let me take cars out of this.
If you had recurring chest pain, would you consult with a doctor, perhaps even a cardiologist, or would you try to get medical advice from a random person on the street? Or maybe your roof is leaking - do you speak with a general contractor or (gasp!) a roofer or hold off until you can ask the most awkward looking teenager working checkout at the grocery store?
The Internet does not provide information; people who use the internet do. If I watch a person perform a job on YouTube, I see how that job could be done. It's not a mystery, and it's not magic. Remove one item, remove another, and remove a third. Replace the bad part and reassemble. The people online have shown me how to do lots of things, and I've saved thousands of dollars. Dealers charge thousands for doing almost nothing.
The cost of replacing a key fob is a good example. Pay the dealer $350 or buy one online for $11 and program it yourself. I've done five that way. Dealers want $150 - $250 to do the programming.

Your Fit Your Decision.
Repair and maintain your Fit yourself, find a trusted mechanic, go to a Honda Dealer.
Whatever you choose,
It's your money and your choice.
I choose to go to my local trusted Honda Dealer.
Because I choose to go to a Honda Dealer for repair and maintenance I always get thrown under the bus.
That's fine.
My Honda Dealer always repairs and maintains my Fit right the first time.
Never pushes for extra work not needed.
My Honda Dealer will be my go to place for repair and maintenance.
Stop trying to convince me that Honda Dealers are the bad guys.

I was responding to your repeated nonsensical comments complaining about knowledgeable people answering questions on a forum where people, including you, come to ask questions about your Honda Fit.
I asked (directly) if you prefer to receive assistance from non-knowledgeable helpers, or from folks who know what they're talking about? That question is very easy for me to answer, but apparently confusing for some.
Because I have interacted with you enough times here to know that you regularly dissemble and misdirect rather than respond to simple questions, I then presented an example based around your frequent cheerleading of the dealership experience to illustrate that you do in fact value receiving assistance from "Know It Alls" when it comes to servicing your Honda Fit.
I was clearly not suggesting that a trip to the dealership is good or bad, or expensive or reasonably priced, or anything of the sort -- I was just trying to understand (across multiple different posts now) what you think you're complaining about and what value you think this forum would have if the remaining knowledgeable/experienced folks left?

Me too. I had to be admitted to the hospital for severe dehydration from all my tears.
It's not that I haven't had my feelings hurt before. I pretty girl laughed at me in the first grade. A bully pushed me down on the playground in fourth grade. I have even had an emoji or two thrown my way before, but no evil genius has ever had the audacity to test my spirit with four! emojis. I feel lucky to have survived this assault.
You, sir, must truly rule your local fourth-grade playground with an iron fist. I salute you.
