Brake Fade

I just noticed that on a certain part of my daily commute, my brakes fade. There is a part about 3 miles, all stop and go which I guess is heavy on my brakes. I notice that there is a loud, deep noise from the front brakes. Anyone here experience brake fade on their fit? By the way, I have a base fit. Im not sure if the rims dont let the air to the brakes that much compared to the 15" alloy wheels. My other car which I also use sometimes doesnt do this during my whole commute.

Should I bring it back to the dealership and let them take a look at it or should I just replace the brake pads?

You should not be experiencing that at all. I have taken my sport auto fit down some steep hills with alot of braking, countless stop and go city driving and NEVER experienced any sort of brake fading. Take it to the dealer and have them test drive it like you were driving it in your typical commute.

You said just a certain part of the road? is it heavy construction? If its sandy, it'll slip a lot.

Buy the hawk pads ( the RSX base ones) and belive me that I'll go away.

I work in the mountais and had brake fade and the solved just like that!!!!!

A little noise ( the one you can feel in your foot, not hear at very slow speed braking, but you can live with it. THey work just GREAT and you can get them @ pep boys for about $70-80.

Yeah, i said certain part but as far as i know, the roads are ok. That certain part just happens to be 3 miles of stop and go, after that all freeway.

So is it just the stock brake pads that arent performing well? I was thinking of changing brake pads also. Would anyone know how many miles a set should last?

My car has 16,000miles, and for the hollidays I put the stock pads back, since i wasn't working, so no hills, but then I notice that the stock pads were thiner than the Hawk ones (Ididn't have to push the piston back to place the caliper back) so I figured that they were wearing pretty fast (due to my commute in the hills)

Anyway, I am pretty happy with the hawk ones, and when in vacation I place the stock ones back (unless if going solo 1) and great

The other thing you may consider is stainless steel lines and motul brake fluid..........that will help a lot in the fade prevention process.

Hope I help in any way.
