Whistling noise when coasting from high speed

Yesterday (17/3-07) I was driving a 175km distance (one way) and tested out some diffrent things on my car. I have just passed 1400km (870miles) on the odometer.

There was a strange high pitch whistling noise from the enginge when I lift the foot of the throttle pedal. It is not very notisable, I have not heard it before because it is so low that you cant hear it if the radio is on.
And it disapears when I touch the throttle again.
I could only hear the noise when coasting from speeds above 60km/t (37.1mph) because the pitch of the noise seemed to be related to the speed or the rpm of the engine since the pitch got lower at lower speeds.

I recon this is normal behavior?

But is there any way that I can get rid of this noise? It is not bothering too much so if there is no way to get rid of it, its ok. But I would love to get some suggestions from all of you.

And I think I'm going to insulate the the doors with some sound dampening materials likes in the DIY mentioned in this forum. There is too much road noise from the winter tyres so I almost dont hear the engine.

Did you get a new filter?

I use a K&N filter, and I was todl i'd hear a whistling noise immediately. But for me, the air filter had to "break in" then I hear it now. It's just air going through the filter to your engine.

Mine is loudest on 4th gear regardless of rpm, and I don't know why it's just this gear. My bros' old CRX whistled at 5th gear regardless of rpm. My bro's current MR2 whistles loudest at 2nd gear. Does your whistle louder on a specific gear?

Did you get a K&N Drop in or CAI/HAI? I am strongly considering a K&N drop in

i hope this is not the case.. but it could be tranny related..
i own 02 Honda Odyssey and lot of them was recalled due to tranny failure . mine was replaced after i noticed high pitch noise above 64mph.. (btw i puchased the van used at 37k)... i took it to the dealer to check it out next thing i heard was to replace the tranny.

i am sure this is not the case for your fit.. but just for your info.

i just posted something similar. I have 09 fit 5spd and i hear a slight whistling/bearing noise as im idling or going through and coming back the 2500-3000 rpm range. its not too noticeable but i must agree its annoying because its so acute. If it helps at all i dont think it may be coming from the pulleys atleast in my case. it seems like the noise comes from the engine near the manifold.
