Mileage reports: Automatic transmission (5AT)
Stopped off at an out-of-the-way station on the way home from ork last night. Not having filled up here before, I was unaware how the pump would work. Turns out that I probably overfilled, but:
452 miles
10.1 gallons
44.75 MPG! Not the 45+ I was hoping for this tank, but it'll do.

I was advised by a mechanic not to put the auto trans in N and coast to red lights, etc. His reason was that the pump in the trans changes output in N and will cause additional wear in the trans. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as to valid concern or just BS. Thanks for ANY help provided.
average speed on highway was probably 50-55. let me put it this way: i never went above 55. and the tach never went above 3500.
Today I was truely amazed with the fit filling up at the pump. I averaged 29mpg on this tank. Speeding, high revs, A/C etc. were all involved in during the course of this tank. City driving and idling was also a major factor.
I still cannot believe I got 29. Driving this way with my old v6 i would get lucky with 18 mpg.
*Granted i accelerated a hell of a lot faster*. hehe.

Off topic, but the 17" rims you have for sale. Did you notice a drop in mpg when you ran them? Is the overall diameter larger then stock?

it's hard to say. the tank of gas before my 519 mile tank rendered 21 mpg. it all depends on how you drive. the wheels might have harmed FE slightly, but only because they are a little heavier than stock. and yes, the overall diameter is about 2 inches larger than stock.
I figured with the lower profile of the tires there would have been less of a net difference.
I want to do some rims (yours look perfect), but I'm still trying for a 50mpg tank. Once I'm *done* with this whole mpg obsession, dropping a mpg or two (staying over 40mpg) shouldn't be that big of a deal. Maybe you will still have your rims then!

Wife has pretty much been driving the car this week (she's not as conservative as I am, plus she drives in town a lot)
She went 302 miles and put in 9.437 gallons = 32 MPG
Not too shabby...
First 3 tanks average - 35.3 MPG
We'll see what I can do this next week!!!

So yesterday I did a half-tank fill up for the first time since I've gotten my car and I calculated 31.5mpg. I drove 165 miles and filled up 5.2 gallons.
The car has 1,300 miles on it. I filled up 4 times before yesterday when the tank is on empty and got 29mpg all 4 times. hmmm, interesting.

Gas mileage
Hi guys! Kinda new here. Bought my Fit this May, now have already 8,500 miles on the speedometer. The maximum I got from the gas was 35 mi/gal. Well, 519 mi on the tank is very intriguing for me. Will try to do so.
Last 2 tanks have been 29mpg and 37mpg. My wife had the lower number driving it in town and a little on the interstate. Mine was mostly interstate and very little city.
I'm rather impressed... thats a pretty descent average to me!

i just accel with a light foot. i've found that if i use the paddles i still get worse mileage than if i let the car take over.

I just got my fit a few days ago. Getting about 30mpg. I'm satisfied!
