I assume you guys have checked your tires for the correct psi when you are getting this low mpg's? I have run a little lower than I had anticipated as well, but I am attributing most of it to the break-in period. I have been running right around 30mpg in a Sport Automatic with tire psi's at 40front,38 rear. I am only 1000 miles in so we'll see if this improves at all.

Oh, and I drive like 80% highway at 75-80mph speeds.

Worst? I just got my best mileage of 23.7 MPG! Granted this is only my third tank, and about 90% that is city/stop and go traffic, A/C on 90% of the time, and I find it hard to stop accelerating before reaching 60 MPH in city and 80 MPH on highway (since it's hard to get a chance to reach 60 in city traffic, that means I'm braking and accelerating like crazy, blame the peppy engine! I used to drive like a grandpa in my used '92 Camry). I frequently reach the 3500 - 4500 RPM range because that VTEC surge is just too addicting! But, I did not depress the gas pedal pass the halfway mark.

I need discipline! Whip me!

I got very similar mileage on my first 2 tanks, but recently bumped up to 27 MPG, I'm at 800 miles now...I see you're located in NJ, it's got to be the gas blend over here, but as the car breaks in, it'll get better, I'm hoping to raise it more, I drive mostly city...

I just bought my new silver storm Fit AT Sport two weeks ago, but am also suffering from the MPG problem. First tank was about 24-25 mpg mix of 80% city/20%highway. With the 2nd tank, the mileage seems a bit better, but at the same time, I'm driving less aggressively and doing alot of coasting and slow starts, and trying not to go over 65 mph on the freeway. I'm constantly looking at the gas needle to see how much it moves! I've noticed that the needle moves quickly after the first quarter tank is gone. Both me and my wife love this vehicle, but am not thrilled about the mileage. Plus, because of the engine break-in, I feel pretty constrained to have fun with my Fit! Don't know if it's the California gas mix or not. Hope it gets better eventually. If not, is it something to bring up with my Honda dealership?

So far the best mileage is with Shell at 27 MPG, my 2nd tank with bp sux big time at only 24 MPG...if mileage doesn't improve after a full break in, Honda will hear from me real soon...

I've got about 1500 miles on my Sport AT. I've ranged from 30-32 mpg with about 50/50 highway/city.

Today I was able to take the car on the highway for a little over 100 miles. Probably was 90% highway & 10% city. MPG for this short trip was 34.3 with A/C. I've been using 87 octane gas (regular).

My VBP Sport Auto Transmission:

Upon delivery(05/27/06) I got 266 miles out of a "dealer full" tank of gas before the low fuel light appeared.

My car is currently at 1700 miles on the odometer and the PSI in my tires is 36 PSI all around.

My most recent tank full of gas lasted 345 miles before the low fuel light appeared. My driving was about 90% highway with the A/C on about 98% if the time. No jackrabbit starts and I managed to keep my highway speeds around 60 - 70 MPH. I topped off the tank with 9.939 gallons of regular unleaded.

If my math is correct it looks like I'm getting about 34.7 MPG if I'm being good.

At least it's better than the 13 - 16 MPG my 2003 Nissan Xterra SE-S/C was giving me.

Wow what a difference! 266 per tank is about what I'm getting now. I'm at 6xx miles now.

First fill up after running 228.6 miles it took 10 US gallons even. Automatic Sport all driving short distances around the neighborhood. I expect it to get better.

Not everyone is stating their transmission type, but it seems to me that most of the people with poor fuel economy have the AT. They typically do much worse in city driving conditions - despite what the EPA may say.

I have a base AT with roughly 600 air conditioned miles. As I am not a car person, is there truth to the assertion that mileage improves after a break-in period? I refilled at 1/2 tank and based my mileage on the number of gallons to fill divided by the mileage on the trip odometer. My first reading was around 31 mpg, with the second around 33 mpg. I am hoping it will continue to increase, but don't know what to expect.

I just hit 369.7 miles before the low fuel light popped...once again same conditions as above except for one 40 mile stretch late last night "owning a Mazda Miata"

I have yet to hit 30 MPG with my VPB sports auto...going on a long trip this weekend with mostly highway miles, let see how it will go...so far not satisfied with the mileage...could it be that a portion of the production went bad and led to some Fits getting low mileage?? after the first oil change the car should be fully broken in, and I will make sure Honda knows about this if it still suffers from bad mileage...

I'm having the same problem with my sport a/t, on my 3rd tank of gas and have only been averaging 28mpg. I do 75% highway, 25% city driving and can't understand why I shouldn't be getting better fuel economy. I've been keeping it at 65 on highway, accelerate slowly in city driving, and really am babying the car.
