Now that my Fit LX Auto has passed 3500 K I feel it is finally time to give my
gas mileages.

From the first fill I got 39.2 MPG. Imperial Gallons

Then @ 1500K I got 41.7 MPG.
Now I get @ 3500 44.9 MPG

The overall average went from 39.5 to 42.2 MPG.
Most of my driving is highway with average speed between 80KPH to 100 KPH.

The highest was 45.5 MPG. when the weather warmed up
and I set my tire pressure to 33 Lbs.

Some of the fills were 1/4 to 1/2 tanks so I could judge
how far I could travel on that amount.
Half tank fills went from 292K to most recent 400K.

The fill light came on the first time @ 483K
and the last time @ 533K.

I always stopped filling at the first stop to be consistent.

Perhaps my patent pending Gas Miser may account for my good mileage. Joke Joke.

Are you using Canadian or US gallons?
The Canadian gallon is roughly 1.2 times larger than the US.
Canadian is 4.546L while the American is 3.78L

Here in Vancouver we use Litres...
(Yes I know he was talking about Imperial gallons, which I suspect will's numbers are based off)

Funny, we buy our gas in Litres here too. But I refuse to use the
inane L/100K comparison. Totally backward system.

I use the converter of 2.824999 to change KM per Litre to Imperial Gallons.

The Honda .Ca site lists my LX Auto as L/100K - 7.8/5.6 . city/highway

Try and figure that out to compare to the majority of the posters to this thread.

Still, 44.94/1.2=37.45 per U.S gallon. Maybe it's the air??? LOL

So, Crimsona, what are your gas figures?

This blows chunks. On my second fill, I'm still getting 30MPG (30MPG the first time as well). I am going to up my tire pressure to 38 or so, then change to synthetic as soon as my first oil change is called for. If I don't see an improvement then....... yeah, theres not much else I can do about it

But they're fairly large roads (4 lane...) with speed limits of 55 most of the way, and the lights are usually green. There aren't very many of them either.

I guess - it's not so much the total average as it is when I've been driving on the freeway.

Yes... the city performance SHOULD be better, but the freeway performance is horrible.
Hey, Ive experiemented with my Fit with MPG b/c Im obsessed with not rewarding the oil companies with my dollar. I drove my FIT from NYC to central PA, all highway, NO real hills, flat. 34.2 MPG, 32 MPG. Then I got back home to Queens and I just got 24.4 MPG. (228miles, 9.4 gal). The stop and go in the real city will kill all MPG in all cars, and Ive noticed my FIT has trouble with hills. You say you have stop and go with hills. That's why I use paddle shifters always to control my RPMs...I think the FIT has trouble with hills and acceleration b/c of low horsepower. I'll keep you posted on my MPG findings.

Be patient grasshopper - let the miles add up and do your oil and tire pressure bit, and you will see a nice improvement.

So far I've been averaging 27.5 mpg, it really made a difference when I made sure the tire pressure is within spec. Also I might/probable would get better MPG if I went with 15".

Ok, a little frustrated with the MPG. I primarily do a few "quick" starts here or there (cant consider what the Fit does as a quick start), and otherwise 80% highway. The best I've seen is 30.5 mpg straight cruise control highway with one passenger at 65 mph unladen. Im pretty disapointed because I used to run my Olds Alero pretty hard and with a 3.4 L v6 auto weighing about 500 pounds more getting 27 mpg. I liked the kick of the V6 (60 more HP), and was hoping that I would be pleased with the traded off for another 8-10 mpg highway. I have 3000 miles on it and I dont see any improvement in gas milage. Its an auto sport with no add ons. I would be willing to do whatever to improve mpg....any suggestions?

Last week, I took my AT Sport Fit to San Diego for it’s first road trip. Up to this point, my mileage has been disappointing at best. My friend suggested taking it on a long road trip to break it in. Here’s a short report:

1. Fresno to Bakersfield. Ride is fine, but not much power on the straight aways.AC part of the time.Cruise control is 75mph, all highway miles. By the time I reach Bakersfield, I notice the gas gauge is almost half way empty! I fill up at Bakersfield and the highway mileage is only 27 MPG!!! WTF????

2. From Bakerfield to San Diego. Climbing up the grapevine is hard for the Fit! It struggles and revs up to 3500-4000 rpms, only obtaining 55-60mph tops. Although I have the AT with paddle shifters, I refrain from using them (does anyone know what to do with the paddles when climbing up a mountain?). When I finally gas up at San Diego, the mileage is strangely 40mpg. Could it be all the downhill coasting?

3. San Diego to LA. With heavy traffic jams on the way and the AC on, I get to LA and gas up to 30 mpg.. What happened to the 40 mpg??

4. LA to Fresno. Most highway driving with some morning traffic slowdowns. AC on most of the way. I get to Fresno and fill up. 33 mpg.

Final impression: after the first road trip, the Fit is mildly disappointing. As much as I love the looks, handling and drive, the poor mileage and lack of power makes me wonder if I should have gone with the Toyota Corolla or a used Honda Civic instead.

I would LOVE to get some of the milage you guys are reporting!

I have filled up the Fit 4 times since owning it, and am not liking what I am seeing!

The best fuel milage I have had so far is 27.2MPG! On my last tank, I only averaged 21.8 MPG.

I know that I have to wait for the engine to fully break in, but this sucks! I used to get this kind of milage from the minivan I used to drive!

filled up today and got 34.3. 7 gallons/241 miles.

70/30 highway city. I was really driving like a granny. Never over 65 and never over 3K on the tach. Maybe 1 or 2 times i gunned it out of sheer frustration.

Fit Sport A/T w/ 16'' HFP's w/ 2K on the OD. Hopefully it will go up some as i get more miles on it. Don't know how people are getting 38 to 40??? Maybe with the base model and the skinny tires.

Greetings!

Here are some data points: 5AT.

First non-dealer tank of gas. 50/50 highway/city driving, A/C on 95% of the time (hey, this is PHOENIX - we hit 118 last week!). 318.3 miles, 9.8 gallons = 32.47 MPG. Not too shabby with all that A/C.

The fuel light went on at 300.2 on the trip meter - this roughly means that there was 1.5 gallons left. When I fueled up at 318.3, the gas needle was pointing directly at the red mark and there was still 1 gallon left in the tank.

A/T Sport, AC on almost all the time Concrete filled size 13 shoes 350lbs of my butt in the seat.

A little over 1000 miles since i bought it 11 days ago. averaging about 250-270 miles till the light comes on and getting 24-26mpg...

Both my 97 DelSol S 5spd and my 97 Civic DX Auto get 29-30 consistently in same driving situations and style.

Then again my 05 Prius Pkg 6 only gets 39-43 on average as well. Highest i EVER got on that was 51mpg in downtown LA Thursday afternoon traffic

Driving about a 50/50 mix. No hot rodding at all. rarely over 3000 RPM. No long sitting at idle, A/C on alot of the time.

It is an automatic sport.

So...

I went back to the dealership today - was basically told that the gas mileage ratings on the window are averages... and that if you're not getting them, it's your fault.

So I've got a fit that's averaging around 25mpg.
And they won't do anything for me.

Yippie.

I'm doing a lot better with the MPG. I don't know if this is due to the tire inflation or breaking-in, but I am usually at 150 miles at my gas' half mark. But now, I'm hitting 170 at the half mark. This is looking promising, and I am at almost 1,000 miles on the car. Tire pressure up to 38 PSI all around.
