On Fords, the door automatically unlocks when you pull the door handle on the inside. That's what he's talking about. On all my GM cars (and my Fit), I have to unlock the door before I can open it.

My biggest gripe about the Fit is that I have rattles in my dash. Left side of the instrument cluster, and also right in the middle. I'll probably have to take the dash apart and put in some thin rubber or foam to silence it.

I've already added a mirror to the passenger visor so my wife can put her makeup on in the car (between dinner and dancing). My next project is to add some LEDs above the visor so she can actually see what she's doing.

On almost every other car I've ever owned (all 13 of them), the door unlocks and opens when you pull the handle from the inside, locked or not. The rear doors on a number of them had child safety locks which (when engaged) disabled the interior handle to prevent rear seat passengers from opening the door inadvertently. I can not exit my car from the driver's seat without first pushing a button or pulling a knob located some distance from the handle. It's annoying, at least to me. I'll learn to live with it, but I'd rather it be set up differently.

Well, that's why the driver and only the driver has control of the window lock button.
I have kids. If one of them rolls the rear window down when I don't want it down, I have to: roll it back up, hit the window lock button, hope they haven't been holding their button down (which prevents the front control from working), stop the car, whoop a butt, hit the window lock button again to unlock it, put the window the way I want it, hit the window lock button again, etc. With the window lock button working in the fashion I am used to, I still have control over all four windows, not just the driver's window. I can first hit the window lock button, then roll their windows up or down without any further interference or butt whoopin's.

What Barry said. I've owned 11 Fords, one Buick (68 Skylark), and a Dodge D50(Mitsubishi). With the exception of the D50, all of them opened from the inside even when the doors were locked. The D50's lock was right next to the door handle, like a number of mid '80s-'90s GM products.

Oh... from the outside...

Back on Topic: I don't like the attitude I get from the Ford workers in this (Louisville) area. It's Japanese, a much better car, and therefore a threat to their cushy, overpaid UAW jobs. I had some arsehole intentionally cut me off on the Interstate last week when I was in a hurry. His license plate frame read : I work for Ford. I drive a Ford.

What a coincidence! My first car was a '68 Skylark Custom-- the 2dr coupe, with the 350 10.25:1 compression motor and a Rochester Quadrajet carb. It had the Delco-Moraine 4 piston calipers on the front disc brakes, and that 3900 pound car could go fast and stop on a dime!

If money and garage space were unlimited, I would own 5 '68 vehicles: the Skylark, a Mustang fastback, a Fairlane fastback, a Charger fastback, and a Chevy C20 pickup. That was a great year for cars.

Really?.....

The fast setting on the wipers are not very fast at all. My wife's 95 Windstar does a better job. Why no user settings for the intermittent wiper, and what is this material that covers my floorboard?

I have a problem with '68 cars. Every one I've ever laid hands on ended up in the junkyard because they nickle and dimed me to death. The Skylark was a 350/quadrajet/powerglide 4 door and it rocked, but it ate water pumps for a living. After the 6th replacement, it got to the point that I ended up changing one on the side of the road in the dark and the parts guy wouldn't talk to me.
"Hey man, it says 'Lifetime' warranty, why can't I get another replacement?"

The '68 Mustang never even made it home. I worked on it for over a year at a friend's house, but just couldn't get the money to get it on the road.

Personally, the dream car is a '70 Mustang Fastback.

On Topic: I don't like the paint on the steel wheels. It is rapidly fading and turning gray. (Sorry, I couldn't think of anything else!)

Now to be completely honest I am a hodajunkie for real and i knew I was going to get the fit anyway cause gas was going up and I wanted a adult car that I wouldnt try and hookup but just because I was going to buy it anyway still doesnt mean that I didnt play with every button, knob, lever, switch, dial, etc before I left the lot with the demo car and that was before I even talked to the guy about wheither or not I was going to buy it. Not to mention just for the sake of being honest, I bough a police package crown victoria a few mounths before I bought my fit, cause for $800 and 78000 miles it was a good deal but I really wanted to mess with people cause it looked like a cop car plus it was fast and handled good for a car so big and heavy. But it had the handles that opened the door when it was locked ant let me tell you I acidently pulled the handle while I was driving cause I dropped the cigarette I was trying to light and it opened the door while I was driving and it was scary. not to mention its suppoed to lock on its own when you put the car in drive but it didnt and thats just one of thoses options that can create a safty hazard if it doesnt work right. But whole point is the fit is a ECONO-CAR not a suv, luxury, or performance car so to complain about a economy car not having luxury options is kinda petty. Especially when you could have figured out that you were not going to like some things about it before you bought it.

BUt thats just my .02 cents

the things i hate about the fit is that the passager side visor doesnt have a mirror but the freaking driver side has one... and that its doesnt have a map light..... and the auto windows goes down auto but why not auto up.... darn it.. but im ok with all those things.... im goin to buy a 09 honda fit maplight and install it myself and im just going to buy a aftermaket passager visor off jdmland.com!!!

but other than that i love the car!!!

Ok I am thinking about buying an '09 fit sport model with manual transmission - do you know if you can install an arm rest on that model? Trying to figure out why that "option" isn't an option for manual transmission. Could be make or break for the purchase - love the way it drives and everything else about it...

I hate how my Fit keeps dropping out of warp. Also, the shield generator switch is hard to access in an emergency. Other than that, I love my Fit!

Since there are about 30 pages on this topic, there is no way I was going to read them all.
With that in mind, I'll assume this complaint came up, but in case it didn't, here's mine.

The OEM tires on the LX, and no doubt the DX, are crap. My biggest complaint about them to date is the road noise that comes from them.
They are Dunlop SP 31 A/S. That's the lowest priced tires from Dunlop that will go on the Fit.
Yesterday I mounted my new snow tires and quess what? They are quieter than the Dunlops. Normally snow tires are noisier.
I put on Michelin X-ICE and not only are they quieter, but the ride is smoother. That's another complaint about the Dunlops, the rough, coarse ride that they give.
And judgeing from the Dunlop tread design, I don't think they should be rated as all season, unless you're driving in Florida.

Though I haven't driven an 09 with the Bridgestones, my 09 comes with Dunlop 7000s and I can safely say that the ride/noise/handling balance is just about perfect for the demographic for this car. No it doesn't have a soft limo ride, that would contradict with this car's personality and charm. It's got tons of grip, unlike the Bridgestones, yet absorbs bumps well.

I have a GE8 with the Bridgestones and disagree. They have sufficient grip in the corners.

09 Sport, auto. I'm 6'1", and there's insufficient driver's leg room for me, even with the seat positioned all the way back. Also, I cannot fully stretch my legs(see above) or fully retract them(floor rises in front of seat) while in cruise mode. Fortunately, it's my wife's DD. She's 5'3". Otherwise, it's a great little vehicle.
