What is this?

Can anyone tell me what this is/does? It's a little bigger than a quarter and has a couple of wires going under the instrument panel. It's located next to where my left knee would be when I'm driving.

I'm thinking it's has something to do with LoJack, or the optional dealer security system that they supposedly "removed".

I was bummed when I found out they screwed the front license plate holder right into the bumper, now I find 2 more pointless holes...

it might be something for the alarm system, did you pay for the dealer-installed alarm?

I declined the dealer-installed security system. The salesguy said every car on their lot had it installed, so the were going to "remove" the system during delivery prep. I had LoJack installed, but I thought those units were larger, and hidden.

I'll probably have honda service remove it when I bring my Fit in for it's first oil change. I was just wondering if anyone had seen this before, and knew what purpose it served, and if I'm better off leaving it be?

Looks like a government monitoring device. Have you been abducted lately by aliens?

..............................No really. Have you?

Come to think of it, I do feel a little less grumpy whenever I get into my Fit. Maybe its a new civilian pacification system?

haha. Actually that is the dealer installed alarm engaged light. Jamesbizzle has the same exact thing on his car. Does the led flash when u lock the car? if it doesn't, maybe they didn't remove the wiring, only the brain of the alarm.

I don't the "LoJack" system or how the US car alarms looks like, but the thing on that picture looks like an glass break detektor. I have one in my car, but it is installed someplace where I can't see it. I have seen it BEFORE the alarm was installed. Have not searched for it either...
But it is not srewed on the dashboard anyway.

yeah that's what i think it is too. i have 2 little holes where that thing in your pic is. the dealer removed mine, but not before drilling 2 holes into there. and i remember when lojack first came out, they used to be a lot bigger than that, and were usually mounted somewhere in the trunk of the cars, so thieves wouldn't notice it. where do they put lojacks nowadays?
