If you have the white Fit, please share

I've got a white Sport A/T and have not experienced anything like you describe. You mentioned that your wife's blue car doesn't seem to attract them. I suggest you check around the neighborhood for anyone else with a white car and see if they have the same issues. You may be able to eliminate the color white as the source of the problem by asking around, or you may find that it really *is* the color that's attracting your freeloaders.
My thoroughly non-scientific gut feel is that there is an additive in the paint sealant or wax, or in the adhesive used to attach the plastic sheets that cover the roof and body panels for shipping that attracts the little buggers. If so, time and washing should help.

Noticed the bug problem too
I have a SSM LX Fit and not more that a month home with my new car and people dropping by would comment about the flies around my new car. It was true! I have kept the car meticulously clean but something seems to attract the bugs! I would venture to guess it has something to do with the paint finish ... I'm hoping I won't be noticing the same problems next spring ... !

yes, i am not sure why i get all the fruit flies in the cab, and sometimes regular flies. i keep my car very clean, and the only food that goes in my car, is from the grocery store, and makes it out of my car in 5 minutes. not a crumb in my car, or any odd smells.
i'll ask around or check other white cars, but, it's a little hard finding a white (painted) car in colorado.
