Newcomer needing guidance for back windows
Hello everyone, my first post. Gitty up!
What a site, I must say! So glad I found it. I have a question.
Here's my scenario: The wife and I decided on a lite blue Fit this afternoon. We were considering a 2006 Scion XA, the two being so externally similar, but upon visiting both dealerships there was NO CONTEST.
The Fit is so much more upscale and roomy, plus gas mileage is incredible! We love it.
So here's the deal. The only quirk I have is I prefer the wrap-around black windows of the XA (not to be confused with the Scion XD, which we do not like much at all).
So... Now that we're buying a Honda Fit is there some type of black visor we can drape around the back - covering the blue color and connecting the side windows to the back one?
I'd like that black continuity to appear on my new Fit.
I'm searching for other great ideas for newcomers also! Thanks for running such a fine site!
Best,
Richie

Oh... the rear window wrap...
IMO The only way to make it look right is to follow the existing body lines.
THE EASIEST & CHEAPEST way to do this would be black vinyl.
Here is what I suppose black vinyl would look like - applied to match the lines and wrap around the back. It looks pretty good, and you can compare it to the Xa on the right.
Vinyl is so cheap - Try it! Take pics! and see if you like it!

I'm going to try it! It's a wonderful solution and unless someone else can think of a better one, I'm sold!
My questions are - What is a good method for attaching it to the vehicle? And will it be weather-resistant?

coo..
I'd probably start with a big piece and cut it once it was on the car. In order to not cut into the paint I'd masking tape up the "curve" and take my time cutting that as best I could.
If you are not familiar with cutting and applying vinyl - you might ask a friend that's done it, vinyl guy, or window tint installer -they will have the skills to do this right the first time.
Good vinyl is fairly weather resistant, can be waxed and polished (somewhat). It will fade over time (years) and swirl a lot faster then paint. If you're looking for show car quality here - You'll need to paint it $$$. Basically - in 3-4 years when it's all faded (I see you're in Texas so maybe 2 years) you'll spend $25 for vinyl and spend 2 hours re-doing it.
I've done my share of vinyl - planetkris gallery :: Stickah's :: P1010154
Have fun!
