Thinking about getting a Fit.

I currently own a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon GS, with about 14k miles on it. I really love my car, but I have to commute for school the next semester. About 120 miles each way (so, 240 miles a week for the next 5 months or so.) I've been considering a fit sport, mostly because of the gas mileage and the cruise control, but also because of the design and roominess.

My only reservations is that people keep telling me that getting a Fit would be a step down, and that I love the way my car looks and I get compliments all the time. Another issue is the fact that Hyundais depreciate quickly, so the trade in value is roughly $12k leaving about a 4-5k difference in the price.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

i dont think a FitSport is a 'step down' from any hyundai, imho, but that's
just me.

For better milage and cruise, comfy ride, get the 8th gen Civic.

For better milage, cruise, and fun ride, get a FitSport.

Yeah im with Kenchan, if anything a Fit may be a step up from a Hyundai. Definetly a step up in the quality from your Tib. i recommend test driving one. It will sell its self when you get behing the wheel. Good luck and welcome to FitFreak!

yeah i must agree with all, but then again your also in the FIT forums, where most of us love our fits.

i have ridden in a hyundai tiburon, my buddy owns a custom built one, but they are not that great. i mean, the fit is just comfy, the gas is great, the style is fabulous.

the only real thing you are "downgrading" is the power. but your not really looking for power since you bought the tib,and now that your going to drive 240 miles a day just for school.

all the functions in a fit will accommodate all your needs to commute.

I don't have any issues with the quality of my tiburon, but I think the thing I would miss the most are all the looks that I get in my tiburon, and all of the positive comments. Fits are becoming pretty common over here. It's really hard getting good suggestion since everyone would be biased towards whatever they own. I'm just looking at all the pluses and minuses of both cars.

I love my Fit, but why on earth would you trade in a car you love and spend more money to get something else. If you figure the miles you travel in a year and then calculate how much a car that gets x more miles to the gallon will save you, you'll undoubtedly find that you won't save anything like as much on gas as you'll pay out to get the newer car. Keeping a good car until it's paid for and then driving it for as much longer as it's reliable is much more economical in the long run.

Dont worry you will get your fair share of looks. I get people staring at my car everytime i go out. Same with most FitFreaks.

That's a really good point. My tiburon is fully paid off, however.
