Talking Breaking in the Engine...

How many miles does it take to "break in" the engine where it starts to sip fuel more efficiently. I am starting out in my AT Sport with 29 mpg. I am hoping to gradually get up to 33-34. I have 1,700 miles on it currently. BTW, I simply love this car's functionality, uniqueness, and being able to piss off SUV's who want to get around me and can't, since I won't let em...

My previous experience with a Honda was a 2002 Insight. It was at about 6000 miles the fuel economy started rising to it's 'normal' level.

YMMV, though.

i first started getting around 29-31 mpg in the first 5000 miles or so. After that it seems to be gradually increases and now has plateaued at 35-39 mpg if i drive conservatively.

Im not sure, but done expect too much of a improvment. Do you have a MT or a AT? My AT gets around 30 now..

My new CVT is getting aroun 33-35mpg (mostly city driving). It has done about 2000 miles. It's good to know there might be an improvement as the engine breaks in more.
