Knocked Off Freeway!

Wow! Glad I wasn't driving this Fit!

http://www.ocregister.com/news/quesa...accident-boxes

Check out the pictures at the above link-the body of the car is basically intact!

FULLERTON, CA – A car took out 50 feet of fence and two electrical boxes during a two-car crash on the 57 freeway this morning, authorities said.
The accident occurred just before 6 a.m. today, said California Highway Patrol officer Denise Quesada.
Witnesses reported the incident as a crash between a silver Honda and an SUV in the northbound lanes of the 57 freeway at Bastanchury Road, Quesada said.
Details on the accident were not yet available, but one of the vehicles was reported to have gone down an embankment. The car brought down about 50 feet of chain link fence and two electrical boxes.
An ambulance was called and brought at least one person to UCI Medical Center in Orange, Quesada said.
The far-right lane was blocked for about 20 minutes.

OMG - yeah for as bad as a wreak as it was the car looks less damaged than you would think from that type of crash. Hope the driver will be OK.

MY goodness! that right there is what you call a crash.

for what it hit, thats pretty impressive on what actually damaged the car. i mean its on its nose, which basically its upside down, and it doesn't look all that bad.

no need for a roll cage then ...after seeing this picture.

Same thing almost happened to me today on the 5 freeway near disneyland, which is in about the same area. Some Mercedes SUV almost changed lanes into me. Santa Ana Winds aren't nice here, lots of people were swaying back and forth. Thanks to the Fit's handling, I was able to go around the Mercedes without incident. Seeing this picture makes me feel a little safer knowing the car can take alot of beating.

I hope the person taken to the hospital comes out of it okay. I am in my Fit because a reckless driver totaled my previous Honda. Nearly a year later I am still feeling it, but I was very lucky (and the car took it well). I hope this person is at least as lucky. A shame there are so many people driving dangerously, forcing decent drivers into dangerous situations.
