I'll echo all the other opinions here, the Fit isn't fast but its a LOT of fun through the curves. I put a RSB and Tanabe springs in my car and it handles like a dream. I'm always so excited to work it out on a twisty road and the shifter is fantastic--definitely better than the Mini Cooper and Neon SRT-4 I test drove but worse than the Miata. I would say it's at least as fun as a base Mini Cooper with a lot more utility, and cheaper and more reliable too.

Well, I dont drive my car light. Im at 20,000miles and my clutch is doing great.
So far at least. I dont do burnouts and stuff, I have and the Fit holds a nice little burnout for a little motor.

Yeah, although the Fit isn't fast by any means, it is fun to drive aggressively. Remember, it's always more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.

You have to remember with only 109 horses on tap, you're not going to beat on the clutch too bad, unless you do things like hold the car in place on hills with the clutch. But that's just a bad idea in any car.

As far as the engine goes: it's a 1.5L Honda motor, I wouldn't worry at all about running it right up to the limiter every day.

My clutch died after 34000 miles or so. The clutch showed zero signs of wear until the day it gave up. SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND, FELLOW 5-SPEED OWNERS.

I'm fairly aggressive while driving. I'm not a fan of the lack of low-end torque, so I'd compensate by feathering the clutch with a little higher rpms (2k-3k on takeoff).

The dealer charged me $1400 to replace it. Ugh.

My old '00 Civic EX withstood a LOT more abuse than this car.

Oh jeez, I always start at around 2k rpm and let the clutch out. Is that not the correct way to start? I find that if I do any less, the car headlights will dim and I'll feel like it's bogging down!

I cant believe the clutches go at under 50,000miles. Thats REALLY early for a clutch to go out. My Mx-6 had the original clutch when I bought it, it was just going out. 107,000miles on the clutch.

The brake pads also go a little fast on these cars.

mine is still tight and grabs well @ 24k miles. I could not see it going for another 20k miles, but who knows. If it does go honda is going to get bitched at hardcore from me, or the dealership. Cause I have bought 4 hondas from the same place without problems.

What's the best way to start from a standstill to preserve the clutch?
