I did. And I didn't even realize that I could go to the dealer's website and look at the truck I traded in until just now. Blue book listed it between 5 and 7k. I was expecting about 5k for it, since it was in exceptional cosmetic condition, and only a few minor operation defects. They gave me $4,500. Jerks. And now they're trying to sell it for $11,000. I should go back and demand more money. Nevermind that it happened months ago, those douchebags marked it up over 100% what they paid me for it.

That's auto dealers for ya. My mother got screwed on a car she bought. She paid $9k for an 8 year old Malibu, and according to Kbb, it should have been closer to $5k retail! Also, that car needs lots of work. The shocks are worn, it needs a tune-up, the brake lines need to be bled, and I bet the transmission fluid needs to be replaced because the car shifts hard when you are flooring it on the highway and GM ATs are normally better than that.

She should have taken me with her when she went used car shopping!

I traded in my 2000 Audi A4 for the Fit. Very happy with that decision.

Getting 4k for my 01 Durango, and then about 3k for all the mods I pulled out of it. Loved that truck, even raced it at the track, but 10mpg versus hopefully 30ish is definitely worth it. To sell it on my own would probably take me years at these gas prices.

They gave me 5k for my '94 Porsche. It was a hand me down car. But I loved the comments I get when they hear I drive a Porsche. But when they see me with it, they ask where is it. LOL, it is so crappy, pimp my ride will fix it, that's my opinion though.

I traded in my 2004 RSX-S. Blue Book for the car in good condition was $13,500 at the time and the car was definetly not in good condition. I told them I would give them the car plus $2500 for my Fit Sport. After about 30 minutes of trying to convince me otherwise they relented. So I was happy.

I traded in a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE. I got $1000 more on trade-in than what I owed on it. I swear I got that good of a deal because of the detail work I had done. (detail cost me $250) And it was so clean, it sold only after sitting on the lot for 2 days!

I loved that car. It made 215whp and 225wtrq in an automatic FWD!

But with $250 less monthly payment, lower insurance, brand spanking new warranty, and the same gas mileage in the city that I used to get on the best highway day, and it's not much of a decision.

When I had my 18"s on it:

Before and after the detail I got, the day I took it to the dealership to trade in.

Pardon me. I made a mistake. I found my dyno sheet from the Altima and it made 211whp and 239wtrq. That's 263hp and almost 300trq at the crank!

I thought about trading in for a while, just to help give a little extra towards the fit, but I had so much invested in my 92 accord it didn't seem logical, so I planned to keep it and continue to build it (track car) but decided against that and parted it out, I made somewhere close to $3k off parts then donated the shell and got a $500 tax deduction for this coming year : )

I was going to trade in my 2000 Saab 9-3 convertible for my new Fit, but they wanted to give me $4000 for it, which was just a slap in the face. I'll probably get $7000 selling it myself, especially this time of year. Meanwhile I'll enjoy the handling and gas mileage of the Fit this summer (the summer of $4/gallon), even if I can't put the top down on it.

No trade ;)

I generally do not trade in vehicles since most dealers will screw you on price (IMHO). I sold our 1996 Buick LeSabre Custom for $3,300 cash. Sold with a free ad on Craigslist (not much luck on this one) and a $$ ad on autotrader.com (which ended up selling the car). The money helped pay a bit for the new Fit Sport. A pretty good deal, everybody is happy.
