fit decision

I'm considering getting a Fit but am still undecided. I already have a vehicle but need a fuel efficient hatchback for my computer business. I do a lot of travelling in the city as well as frequent out of town trips. The car has to be able to store boxes of computer equipment like printers, etc. My question is how well does the fit match what i am looking for?

I do field engineering part time while going to school for a headrest DVD monitor company. I haul all sorts of things like backpacks full of leather swatches, extra prototype headrests and whatnot. It's incredible for this kind of stuff actually! Great mileage and lots of room, just make sure you get the nice plastic cargo mat for the back so you don't mess up your carpet with the heavy traffic Good luck getting one, hopefully you can join the Fit family soon!

I took mine to a business supply store today to buy 2 chairs and 2 desks. The guy who said he'd help me load asked me to bring my car up.
I could just imagine what he was thinking when I pulled up with my Fit.

I had already put the seats down. As he loaded it, he asked what kind of car it was and was amazed at what it held. Lots of room to spare!

Gotta love the FIT for that and many more things.
Get a Fit - you can't go wrong.

Welcome to Fitfreak btw!
It sounds like the Fit would match up well to your needs!
One of the MAJOR reasons I chose the Fit dealt with me having to haul,
my matterials and equipment to different jobs and what not.
I was in a major accident in my last car so thats how the opportunity
presented itself initially.

I cant lie with regards to having transported my stuff often yet (as I still am recovering) but I have used it a bit and have tested what It can hold for me with wonderful results.

One of my dimensional requirements was to find a vehicle that could carry
something that is 40"x60" inches without either doing damage to the
car or object. (it is a very common sized Item that I have to transport)
I dont think I can lay it flat but it will fit none the less.

My last car ('01 civic coupe LX) had the 60/40 rear seats and I did
wonders with them but opening from the trunk into the cabin was rather
tight for the size of the car. The Fit in this regard (and many others) was/is far superior. Many new cars have just as small or smaller rear
sections than my old civic.

The Fit is wonderful with large bulky items in general, so there ya go,
hoped that helped.

The mileage has been nice as well-
(my car is not far past the breakin though)
when driving hard and normal together I seem to average about 28-29mpg 100% in the city crappy traffic (Socal) and they are very short
trips too.

i fit 45 pumpkins in my fit last october.

i only had one of the backseats folded down and i still had plenty of room to see out the back.

so yeah, if your hauling ever involves pumpkins, it'll do wonders (i keep meaning to post the pics i have)

I love it. And there's 21 Cubic feet of cargo space. The new, bloated xB only has one more cubic foot, and doesn't get the mileage.

BTW, the large objects I've carried are our last two Christmas trees, a Brinly lawn sweeper, a 16' ladder (in it's collapsed 8' configuration), and just the other day, a giant "Boss" snow shovel made in Quebec. Seats have to be folded down to do this, but there was plenty of room to spare in each situation.
