Does cold weather effect airbags?

This winter I've noticed that when my Fit has been outside in the cold all night, my airbag light stays on during my drive to work the next morning. Anyone else have this happen?

According to the local weather station, the low last night was -3F.
Hardly sub-arctic conditions. I think I will call the dealer and ask about that.

Thanks.

I suggest you bring it in to the dealer as well.

OW! Sorry about your chestplate.
I suppose a steering wheel or dashboard would have done more damage tho.

I called the dealer and the dude said (after checking my VIN) that there was a recall having to do with the airbag wiring harness. He said it was run under the carpet and Honda was afraid they would short out if they got wet down there. Or something like that.

He said he hadn't heard of cold effecting it, but I'm taking it in soon anyway to get it fixed. Better safe than sorry.

I would think so too, but thats why we have seatbelts(to keep us away from such things). In my crash I would have far prefered the airbag not to go off at all then to deploy late.
The seat belt probably would have done quite well.

so did you happen to find out what the dealybob was?

I occasionally have this problem too. Two or three times on cold days last winter. But only once this winter. In all cases, the air temperature was below -10C (+14F). But 99% of the time, it was OK even at those cold temps. Maybe if I ignore it long enough, the problem will go away

Because the problem is not repeatable (i.e. in the car dealership's warm garage, everything is normal), nothing can be done about it right now.
