question about the passenger mirroir

Just a simple question... i don't understand why my 2 side mirroirs don't turn the same side. The left turn in and the right turn out.

The right side turns to the outside whereas that of the left side turns
inward.

Am I the only one?

Do you mean when you are twisting/rotating the mirror casing inward from its normal position?

I think I understand what he's asking. When you push the stalk to the left it makes the left mirror pivot out. Pushing the stalk to the left will make the right side mirror pivot out.

That is how all cars are. You have to look at it as making the mirror pivot left when pushing left and pivoting right when pushing right. Ignore the mirrors relation to the car. It's not inside/outside it's is left/right.

sorry... i don't talk very well in English...

what I mean... is the sides miroirs... you know it's possible to push them. What i want to know is why the left one turns inside (direction) and the left one turns outside...

unless i'm mistaken, i think the side mirrors can fold either 'inward' or 'outward' just depending on the direction you force it. i don't know if your canadian fit is different?

i believe bibi147 is talking about folding the side mirrors (the external ones on the 2 front doors), and he/she is confused about why one mirror folds with the mirror facing away from the car and the other with the mirror facing in towards the car. yes?

AAAAAAAAAAHHHAAAAA!!!!! YUP your the only one

I think your divet/pivot has something in it or its just got something jammed. Our mirrors are supposed to pivot both ways when you grab them and move them. They actually pivot outwards better than inwards (where they swing slightly upwards with no confidence )

I think you just either are not turning one of them enough or there is something jamming it in the other direction.

Do you hear a grinding/scraping sound when you try and turn the one...or does it just not move? Was it previously in an accident? Did it get smacked really hard by accident? Try lightly pulling up and towards yourself (gently though) to pop it out and over.

good luck

yes doctordoom... it's exactly what i was trying to explain.

no accident... i tried but each of them go in one direction only...

so i will talk about that to the dealer when my second oil change will be done.

thanks a lot for your patience.

good luck bibi. if you want, you can try turning the mirror with a little more strength and see if it budges. just don't go ahead and force it so hard that you end up breaking something. when the mirror turns, it lifts up a little bit off of the base that attaches it to the door, so you can try to lift it up a little bit as you try to turn it. otherwise, you can play it safe and just ask the dealer when you get the chance.

The other day I was at an automatic car wash, and when the huge brush came by it pushed my passenger mirror FORWARD and I totally freaked because I didn't know it could move that way - assumed it only folded backwards like most other cars.. needless to say I was quite relieved when it snapped back into place..

My heart sank for a brief second, I drove forward in the middle of the car wash to prevent further damage
