if there was no airbag recall then it would be even better haha! ~27k miles for me and everything is still good to my knowledge.

There's a rumor about an ECU reprogram recall to correct a starting problem. Anyone know any details?

never heard of that problem. would be interested in knowing what it is too. The only issues i've had with my car was the EPS going out, but Honda fixed that through warranties.

In the Carspace Honda Fit forum, a few members were having starting problems. The following response came in from a Singapore poster -

" Hi All,

I am from singapore and have heard from our local authorized honda dealer that this is a problem with the ECU for the 2008 Honda Fit.

Unfortunately it will require a reset of the ECU and there is a special machine required for this which is not yet available outside Japan. Only JDM Fits will benefit from the reset. Exported versions may have to live with this problem until the machine is deployed to authorized service centers.

Seems to be reliable info as the dealer showed me the email coming from Japan. I have just ordered the new Fit and I hope the ECU has already been corrected for this problem.

Please do keep us posted on any feedbacks from your distributors if they have the same info."

Not sure if this is BS or good info. RG

The only REAL problem I see if some get bad gas mileage, EPS (Electric Power Steering) problem. The pump seems to go out a little early. Theres a TSB on it so that shouldnt be a problem. And the clutches go out really early on the cars.

The clutch looks like an hour job to me.
hey lol the flat rate time for a honda tech to do this job is only 3.2 hours. to put it in to contrast the same clutch job on a 97-01 prelude is 7.4.

I had a problem with oil consumption...the Fit would lose 1/2 quart of oil every 2 weeks. Neither Honda or the dealer believed I had a problem until I proved it to them by taking the car into the shop every time I had a oil loss. This took three shop visits when Honda finally acknowledged the issue.

A former co-worker had this same problem with a Honda Civic. Sent it back as a lemon when Honda couldn't fix the problem. He found out later one of the pistons had a hole in the top - apparently Honda or the dealer tore the engine down to see what was wrong.
