'08 Fit Sport AT - Hills and Cargo Questions
So I just got back from the dealer. Once they locate the color I want, I will go and finalize the papers and I'll have my new Fit. My main question/concern, is how does the car handle going uphill? Also, how does it deal with a solid cargo load (4 people, lots of boxes)? And lastly, how does ti deal with cargo going uphill?
I like the car alot and I want to get it, but this is one concern of mine especially when we go camping. Thanks for your help!

I have no problems with about a 900 pound load of 4 old cast iron table saws, 2 radial arm saws and a few motors, and a few other odds and ends. a little slower than normal on the uptake but hills, valleys and no problems. On the interstate it can blow a little, but in 40 MPH gusts it blows less then my 2000 Dakota Quad Cab that I replaced with the fit.
hahahahahahah. yeah, i drink 2 per day
btw, OP, i just saw that you have an AT fit. if you are going to be hauling stuff regularly, it wouldn't be a bad idea to invest in a transmission oil cooler

If you carry heavy loads in back you need to replace the stock rear shocks with Monroe AirLifts MA811 intended for mid to late 80's Cavaliers.
Cost about $85 not installed but most can do it easily themselves.
Check the posts and photos in the suspension section under rear shocks design etc. I think nothing of carrying 500 lb in my Fit back and climbing any of the local grades. Without the AirLifts it was a nerve-racking experience uphill, downhill, or anywhere.
Good luck.
I don't intend on haling stuff too often, but when I go camping with my wife and have gear in the back a (stove, tent, kitchen, coolers with food, etc.) I want to be able to get up the hills without a problem.
I don't know what you drove before but uphill your Fit AT will need to be in 2nd (60 max) or 3rd gear (90 max) on uphill runs. Fourth and fifth are for level ground.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!
Having lived there I think its 4% but you will wind the Fit up as there is little torque below 3000 rpm. And yes you do need the AirLifts even for 200# but you can get by if you're careful.
