My 5% light has been on for a week or so now, 5200 miles of 80/20 city/hwy miles. I don't think I'll make it to 6K before I need a change. Time-wise, that's 5200 miles in 7 months, so I'm thinking it'll be about the 8-9-month range for the change.

I won't be going to synthetic on the change, there's no real advantage on engines that don't have severe heat problems or huge loads. I don't think our little 1.5L falls under either of those categories.

One question I have is, how is the MM affected by some hypermiling techniques like stopping the engine at long traffic lights? I can see how that MIGHT make the trips look much shorter, thereby reducing the MM range. I don't have any tech on that, though.

I usually change mine with Mobil 1 synthetic with my '07 NHBP. I don't let the oil life go much past 20%.
