Hi all,

I live in Canada where there are three trims of the Fit.
-Fit DX (base model)
-Fit LX
-Fit Sport

I'm wondering if it is a good upgrade to go from the DX to the LX for an additional $2500?

I dont need these things but will it help resale values etc?

I would say YEAH just because of the a/c. Of course it was 95 degrees here in Memphis where I live. I would guess it never gets over 75 where you are, eh?

I couldn't imagine owning a brand new car without a/c. Wow. I didn't even know auto companies actually sold vehicles WITHOUT a/c in even the lowest base-of-the-base model. Hyundai crap-tacular models for $9000 new come with a/c here.

If you can afford it without it being a burden, man go for the Sport model. The best of everything, everything you can get in a Fit at least.

 

I just went through the same thing - decided on the LX model. Personnally, I need the options like cruise control since I do a lot of highway driving. If you were only going to use the car in town, maybe you could live with out, but the power stuff does come in handy at times! Plus, with pwr locks you can add remote keyless entry, which is worth it's weight in gold!

Just my opinion...

 

The stereo with the "Aux" input jack (on the Sport, that is) is worth a lot to me. I listen to Sirius radio all the time, and I know many of you members listen to your iPods, et cetera, so to me it's worth the difference just to never hear commercials. Oh, yeah, and the locks and other stuff too.

 

I replied in a different thread--A/C is a no-brainer if you're in certain parts of Canada, where temperatures can rise to 35°C and feel like 40+ with humidity (that's 104°F+ to our American friends ). And Environment Canada is predicting a hot summer.

Is the A/C alone worth $2500? Well, no... but it's no even an option on the base DX model, and windows down isn't going to cut it if you're stuck in slow-moving traffic.

 

In Canada we're lucky to have the Aux input jack on all three trims, even the basic one.

Hey, it's at least *some* compensation for the MSRPs being thousands more than yours, even though our currencies are at par!

 

Really? Cool, I didn't know that. They really should put them in all cars nowadays.

 

I also live in Canada.
I decided on the LX. Better resale, stereo, A/C ect.
All I really want is the Sport wheels. I'm not found of the body kit without mudguards. And I think I would tear the lower rocker pieces off in our winters.
Somebody upgrade already and sell me your Sport wheels!

 

I was in the same boat as you about 14 months ago. I had a 99 civic hatchback that I was thinking about selling. I originally wanted something just basic but the more I looked into the Fit, the more features I wanted. haha. I noticed the Fit started at a fairly decent price...but wasnt really impressed with the features on the DX. I started wondering about if the LX was worth it...decided it was. But then a month later, our dealership came in with a BOM sport. I really liked the kit and the spoiler and wanted the MP3 capability. Perhaps BOM sold me too! Definetly wouldve bought BOM if TW didnt come out this year. After trying to look for a car for as little as possible, that BOM Sport convinced me that I should get the Sport.

Oh and BTW, the DX has the 160 Watt stereo. It just has 2 speakers instead of 4 in the LX.
