Will I be able to carry a bed frame from Ikea?

I'm trying to see if I can fit a bed frame box from Ikea in to Fit.
The dimensions are

Height:2"
Length:76"
Weight:88lb

Been there, done that . From IKEA, too.
I don't know the size of the box, but I carried a double (or is it full? - not a single bed, but a 2 person bed 1 size smaller than queen) frame from IKEA without any problems in long mode. I even had a passenger behind me in the back seat along for the ride.

I know queen/king beds are longer than doubles (6"?) though, so you might have an issue if that's the size you're getting - I don't recall how tight of a fit it was.....

I don't know about easliy, but it will probably fit. The length is the issue here. A 52" tv in a box is a lot shorter than an 76" bed frame box.

As I said, I've done exactly this with a double bed no problem - I'm guessing a queen/king would work.

The problem with long mode is that the box is to wide too wide to lay flat in the passenger area, and too tall to stay vertical because the passenger seat is raised above the back cargo area.

That being said, I broke down the corner of the box in the Ikea lot and managed to fit a a queen frame in it. It was tough but you can do it.

I measured the cargo dimensions just now, and they are roughly:

hatch opening:
widest clearance: ~106 cm (42")
tallest clearance: ~77 cm (33")

actual cargo area:
width between wheel wells: ~100 cm (39")
height from "floor" to rear ceiling light: ~89 cm (35")
"lip" of hatch to front seats: >140 cm (55"); could probably move seats up to gain another 20cm

I need to move a double-sized mattress and boxspring, and I was getting my hopes up to use my Fit... but Wikipedia has entries for standard bed sizes. A twin I can see being carried, though it would stick out the back and would have to be tied down. A double-sized boxspring though? No way

Just put the front passenger seat flat and you get 94" from the end of the hatch to the front dash according to Honda. Just stand it up on it's side like the other guy said and prop it up along the side of the car if it's too wide to go in flat.

Carried a Queen bed (frame and all) two dressers (in box) from Ikea no problem. Just lay the back and passenger seat down done.

i packed in the queen size malm bed with 2 bedside drawers and a bunch of frames and misc things from ikea a couple months ago.

I had it in long mode with my girlfriend sitting behind me from covina back to vegas. But i did bring some towels and a sheet which helped cover a few egdes of the boxes over the long haul

I have no problem seeing that--the mattress you probably bent to fit in your Fit? You didn't have a rigid boxspring to deal with though

My Fit's first trip to IKEA

It holds a lot more than my Beetle did.

Contents of Fit after trip to IKEA: Three adults, a table, four chairs, a bed, two garbage cans, a violin (didn't come from IKEA), assorted bedding and linens and gadgets and things. OK, so one of the three adults was without a seat since it was in long mode, but hey, she doesn't seem to mind.
