$1500 over MSRP!!!!!
1. Dealer mark-up here is a lot higher than the mainland
2. People who buy cars here complain about money yet they over-pay for everything and dealers/retailers cash in on it by ridiculous high pricing.
took 3 weeks to get it around MSRP +400(give or take) was the lowest i could go, but i did have 2 things on my side. I put 10k cash down and a trade-in. I told them if i didn't get the price for the fit i would go elsewhere i flashed the 10k and gave them 15 minutes and walked out. 3 weeks later they called me and asked if i bought a car.

4 season floormats, full nose mask, and the shift knob i got for around 16.3
MSRP is around 15.2 with the extra, and fees. with trade in and 10k down i only owed 1.1k
i have to find the documents, it's paid off already, so i am not sure i threw it away

Windward is still somewhat of a good spot to go. Have not been there recently. Tony went downhill when he retired and let his kids/managers do things, it was 10x better before that. Phlueger is omg don't go there. friend is a parts manager there and he didn't even buy his car from them, he went and got his S2k from California.
sorry to say you got screwed. buy 2 things.

We have 2 Honda dealers in Tulsa so there's a war going on. One had Black AT with hail damage they offered to let go for sticker and they'll fix the damage. When I offered my trade (98 Jeep Wrangler with 158,000 miles.) they only offered a couple of thousand. Looking at gas prices now, I really can't blame them. Went to the other Honda dealer and it was like finding the Holy Grail...the model & color we were looking for sat right there on their showroom floor. After relaying that I had been to their competion looking, they offered $4500.00 for my trade and I jumped on it. Final tally: 2008 Fit Sport AT VBP @ $12,000.00 with trade. Good? I'm happy...
Hopefully increasing production will help with the cost issue. From Autoblog today:
Like most other manufacturers doing business in the U.S., Honda has been caught by surprise by the sudden shift in demand to smaller cars. When the Fit debuted in the U.S. two years ago, it proved more popular than expected then and allotments were increased for the upcoming redesigned 2009 models. However, the spike in fuel prices has caused a corresponding increase in demand for small fuel efficient cars like the Fit. Sales of the old Fit from January to May of this year jumped 64 percent compared to 2007. Honda has now decided to bump production from 60,000 to 80,000 cars for the 2009 model year. The 2009 Fit has been rated at 28/34 mpg city/highway and will start at $14,620. U.S. production is limited because Honda only has capacity to build 500,000 Fits a year right now for the entire world, and if we get more in the U.S., someone else has to get less elsewhere in the world.

Just bought a 08 Sport auto for invoice with mats and wheel locks. The deal was because my brother and I both bought one and it was the end of the month. Besides the dealer also has what is called holdback money which in the Sport is about $475. So with the sale of 2 they still made about $1,000. You usually can do better buying the car at the end of the month because of bonuses paid to the dealer based on number of units moved. Just an FYI cars were bought in central NJ.
Exactly. There's morons every day that pay what the dealer asks. Because they dealer says "no", they think that's the bottom line. I'll never pay even MSRP for a new car.
This is what Old Man Tony told me when i worked for him. it's worth dropping the price especially when people have the money in hand. less wheeling and dealing, and more time to get another person in a car. sure we may get a small cut, but the more cars of OURS is on the road, the more happy customers we get, the more referrals we get, and the more money overall we make.
For the rest of you:
How come you didn't know what MSRP was? The Moroney sticker is required by law to be given the customer at delivery either by hand or on the car (as many states require).
in all honesty. look at where the money is going especially if your old vehicle gets your 25 mpg, you gain an average of 6 mpg, yet you paid money to get the car. you end up taking money out of the gas companies and putting it in a car dealers/makers pocket.

I sold cars after selling my company (non-compete clause)and I can vouch for the 'bonus' system. Collected it a few times myself when we exceeded our 'target'.
There's some truth in that. The dealer sold 2 the day I was negotiating on mine and I live in a relatively small town. They moved very little on it all, citing the low mark-up (that Bonsaikc mentioned in his comments earlier) as the main reason. They know they can sell it to someone else anyway. Honda is in a good position right now with these cars and they know it. A year or two ago that probably wasn't the case, before gas prices starting rising so dramatically, but it is now.
As to worrying about allowing the dealer to make $500 on a $15000 car, do what you wish. I give great service and make my customers happy they came to deal with me. There's never confrontation, and I like my customers and they like me.
It's a great product and well worth MSRP. Nobody is getting screwed by paying MSRP on a Fit. Get real. Get a great car.
It's true that they are hard to get and keep. However, we aren't in that great a position right now because I don't have any to sell, and it's hard to get some folks to plunk down a deposit check on a car that won't be here for three weeks.

I agree.
I bought the car because its what I wanted.
