$1500 over MSRP!!!!!
I paid MSRP, and I have no problem with that. All the ones coming in were presold, and if I wouldn't have paid it, they could have sold it the next day. I was able to get the car I wanted, in the color I wanted (red).
This isn't like some Chrysler they basically pay you to take - the demand on these is very high.

Some people tell car buying stories about what a great deal they got. We never get a great deal, we may just get a little less screwed than the other guy.
I just made a deal on exactly what I want. I won't say what I paid becaust 67% of the previous posters to this thread will say I got screwed. But Friday I'll go get it, Red, Base, 5 speed MT, with tint. I'll drive it for 8 to 12 years like my other Hondas. And I'll never look back to the $700.00 over what I should have spent.
Life is for fun, avoid the rest.

No doubt, great car for the money
No doubt, great car for the money, from reliability, drivability, to excitement, to comfort, its great for the money. This darn car is so flexible it can carry a family of four and stuff stuffed in with ease. This is coming from someone whose never owned an economy car or japanese car ever.

I agree. I prolly paid $500 over what some others have paid. I would also add each area of the country is different. Its just going to be higher in some places mainly due to the demand v. supply.
But I got what I wanted, color, options, leather etc, so I'm happy and I'm just gonna enjoy the car.
I live in Newark, DE too and bought my wife a 2008 Fit Sport MT - Silver in the fall of '07 for MSRP.
We were very specific about wanting a Sport MT in Silver. Our local dealership kept promising one was due in any day, but wouldn't take a deposit or set a price. Finally, the clutch in her old car was at the point that I didn't want her to drive it anymore and we were not going to put any more money into that very clean, but high mileage car.
AutoTrader.com proved to be a useful site to locate specific cars within a reasonable driving distance. We found what we wanted at Martin Mainline Honda, agreed to MSRP over the phone, placed a $500 credit card deposit on a Thursday, and picked the car up on Saturday of the same week. Prepared a bank check for the balance (less the deposit) - no financing. Dealer was reasonable. They gave us wheel locks, all season mats (uninstalled), and a cargo tray as part of the purchase. We had intended to pay for those add ons.
Regular service performed at local Martin dealership in Newark. Pay going rates. They are usually good about sending service coupons. Tire pressure sensor had to be reset by the dealership - warranty. Once had a tire going soft due to picking up a nail. Drove it gently ~2 miles to the dealership on a Saturday morning, they apologized they couldn't take care of it for ~an hour. Made myself comfortable in the waiting area. Fixed in ~an hour @ no charge.
My wife and I love the car. I would have liked to have paid less than MSRP, but was satisfied with the combination of price and relative ease of the transaction, especially for a car that is in demand.
FWIW.

I ended up going 45 minutes to Dover, Delaware and put a deposit on a base manual VBP for MSRP. It'll be arriving in a couple of weeks. Sport is difficult to come by, but there were 2 base manual VBP's available at different dealers.
I took the car on a test drive and it was fun! I'm an owner of an old Miata as well. I was shocked at how much cargo space there is, and the Magic Seats will be fantastic with our dogs.

i'm not shocked...i was looking for a 2007 white fit and the one i found near me was 19,000.
needless to say, i'm getting my NEW fit in a few weeks and I payed 17400 out the door for an auto Fit Sport VBP (only 200 over invoice).
