A freind of mine tried the turning off the engine thing at an intersection until he was crashed into and the airbag didnt deploy... 4 broken ribs later the insurance company refused to pay for anything caues he was stupid enough to turn his car off in traffic... It is very penny wise and pound foolish... however all the other ideas are very helpful thanks!

New owner epinion here...

Appreciate the tips and the write up - I read through them in the other thread. IMO, some easy to do and practical stuff, while some is only for the diehards. And that's ok.

Personally, I've only made 3 changes thus far to my driving habits:

1. 65-70 freeway, down from 75-80
2. Accelerate more moderately, keep shifts 2.5 - 3k (mainly for engine break in right now)
3. "No brakes" mentality, look ahead and coast whenever possible. (Will try keeping it in gear - these Fit's coast in neutral FOREVER!)

So far, with just over 700 miles, I'm averaging 35.xxx mpg with a dealer fill and only going by the trip and gas pump. That data is close enough for me. FWIW I'm in Texas; I think the AC has been off exactly twice since I picked it up...

Do whatever you want. If you die, it's your fault.

Also, advice is given, not force, so you don't have to take any bad advice if you believe it's so bad.

Honda-tech = no sense of humor

To those that require proof I simply say search the eco forums because we have established that but I will point you to cleanmpg.com as well.
