Cruise control is one of the only things the vehicle lacks. I don't know if there are any issues with cruise working with CVT transmissions.

Somebody on another forum mentioned they got to test drive what amounted to the US version of the Honda Fit. There was no mention of engine type, but they did mention the test car had paddle shifters on the steering wheel, which means Americans will get the Fit models that use the CVT-7 transmission.

That tells me Honda never did consider using a "normal" automatic transmission for the US-market car.

Cool

I'd buy one in a second if it was manual transmission. If they only come through with automatic, I'll be looking for a different car.

Yep, 5 door hatch. Though they make a sedan sold as the Honda City in most markets (Honda Jazz Aria in Japan) and also a small station wagon which again isn't called a Fit/Jazz.

Different engines, accessories and trims. All front wheel drive (except also 4WD avail in JDM - Japanese Domestic Market). Engines currently ranging from a 1.2L to a 1.5L with either i-dsi or sohc vtec. 5 speed manual or CVT automatic (with a 7 speed paddle shift mode).

Dear Honda,

I would like a white 5-speed Fit, with a turbodiesel engine and 70 mpg highway, 60 mpg city. As long at it is a hatchback I care not if it has 2 or 4 doors.

I would like it today, please, and I have absolutely no doubt that sales of such a car would be through the roof. I am in the USA.

Thank you!

I work for Honda the US market is definitely getting the CVT and will most likely get the 5 speed as well. At least that is what my regional manager is telling me though he said we are expecting another well hushed surprise that he wasn't even sure of.

It's nice to see that there are people that want hatchbacks. No matter the number of doors, they are the best. I keep reading in the car magazines that companies are reluctant to sell hatches in the US because the American public thinks they are cheap.

Make my Fit silver with the vtec and a 5m trans. I'll be back in the US December 2006. Hopefully by then the supply will have got up with the demand.

Import Dealer,
you're raising already high expectations. I love "hushed surprises". Hmm.. what could that possibly be? Any guesses, people?
