Omaha to Colorado Springs

The drive is just over 600 miles. Two adults,3 kids, junk in the hatch almost to the ceiling. Approx. 77 mph with the air on I got 35.5 there and 38.5 back with a slight tailwind. Also, what did I see when I got to the top of Pikes Peak? Another Fit.

Wow, that is a heavily loaded Fit. How did the car handle the grades when loaded?

Your mpg is surprisingly good. Did you use any hypermiling techniques?

At elevation, it didn't handle grades real well. On one steep hill in particular on a 2-lane highway I slowed from 65 to about 55 by the time I reached the top. I could have went to 4th and maintained my speed, but I just slowed down. Once I got back to normal elevation, it handled the grades with no problem. It also could go 80+ easily.

No hypermiling here, just motoring down the road.

I was going from Grand Rapids, MI to Milwaukee, Wi to visit relatives I averaged 38 mpg round trip. This is still my personal best gas milage with my Fit.

I got pretty amazing MPG on a vacation drive as well; 39.5MPG for 70+MPH with AC on the whole way, several long rainy stretches, and a load in the car. I swear the little guy likes the load, runs better with it.

Awesome! Must be because they're so much fun to drive.
