11 Fill ups report 08 Fit

Average MPG 34.57
Highest MPG 37.42
Lowest MPG 27.26 (A lot of stop n Go and AC waiting in parking lot.)
Most Miles Per Tank 332.4 miles
Total Gallons 94.67
Total Cost $408.02
Total miles: 3367
Cost if I was driving my old F150 (15 mpg) approximate avg. $816.04

Pros:
1. Great Gas Mileage.
2. Great for parking.
3. Easy to keep clean. (15 minutes with quick detail spray.)
4. Fun little car to drive.
5. Good Safety ratings.

Cons I did not know about from the research before hand:
None.

Cons I knew about and verified:
1. Soft Paint. (Keeping it clean and waxed with touch ups.)
2. Cheap Carpet. (Got floor mats.)
3. Seats are not as comfortable as larger cars.
4. Needs dead pedal.
5. AC is not the best.
6. You have to learn to drive it to get the best mileage. (Driving slower and finessing it has taken my mind of the commute making it seem faster/ less stressful. So after the learning curve not really a con.)

One thing that I would have Honda change if they let me: Put a nice durable clear coat on it.......

Bottom line: It is what it is and preforms as such. There could be some improvements and I am sure the 09 will address some of them. I've heard others say that Chevy, Kia or those off name car makers are better but Honda is reliable and has a very good resale value. Talk to those owners in 5 to 10 years when they want to sell them.

This comes from a big guy that used to drive a big truck.

Great numbers! I agree, when you drive slow, you don't stress as much because you're the slow driver stressing everyone else out. lol.

Good numbers and observations, EXCEPT for learning to drive the FIT for better mpg. This goes for any car and person that wants to achieve good mpg. Learning to drive better is a must for better mpg.

The Fit just has a lot more gains/loss from eperimenting. Just keeping the rpm lower can have a 5mpg improvement. In comparison, I've tried everything under the sun to improve the mileage in my v8 Explorer. It gets 17mpg period. If I drive it like a grandma it gets 17. If I leave the air off, it gets 17. If I drive it like I stole it, it gets 17. The only way I can effect it is when towing a 7,000lb load. Then it gets 12

I've only got 1900 miles on mine, but my numbers are very close to yours.

I is hard for the AT haters out there to believe that the fit has a very good AT and gets the same mileage as the MT. In some cases better. It is much easier to have "Fun" in an MT and keep the engine rpm in the power band and this burns more fuel.

Don't get me wrong, I like to have fun in my AT as well. I use the paddle shifters to keep the power up and carve the corners, but the computer is always trying to maximise MPG and keeeeps the AT is the proper gear to acheive the best MPG.

It is a fact that older AT got much worse MPG, but with the advent of the computer controls, the AT are just a good as an MT.
