OK, Im number 3 on the list to get an 09. I was planning on going directly from the dealer to the window tinting place but was wondering, will they even have 09 templates in for the Fit? If not, how long does it usually take for the window shops to get the new templates. Or do they even use templates as i have never had window tinting done before.

 

They don't use templates.

At least, not at the shop I've gone to.

 

It is my understanding that the majority of tint establishments do not use templates. Mine doesnt either.

 

I think most tint shops have templates, usually computer cut that get the film cut close enough, then they do the rest by eye. Helps on waste. Any good tint shop will be able to tint the windows.

 

I have had about 15 cars tinted in the last 25 years and never has any of the installers used templates, not even one of them.

 

What everyone else said. Also, make sure the place is reputable. Razors and heat are used during most applications, so if possible, check out their work on other cars. Cut/melted rubber weatherstripping is a common result at less-savvy shops, and ask if they have experience tinting the small windows up front. I've seen some crappy jobs on 07/08s.
