It's probably Alpine which is not exactly at the top of the pile in Navigation. Companies that do things for the OEM's are not going to give you their best because the OEM's aren't paying top dollar.
Some people like myself do not and will not like messing around with swapping out the speakers or head units and I actually prefer the more integrated look of the OEM setup. Stock speakers are more than good enough for my untrained ears. Plus with the 09 it is looking like getting the NAV may be the only way to get the VSA. Price has not yet been confirmed.

Doesn't take much of a untrained ear to determine crap from good. It's a lot like AM vs. CD.
Just like drugs, Just Say No. LOL.

Obviously there are killer systems available out there, which is great for those that are into it. However, what you call crap, most people over age 30 will find perfectly fine for the sound level of music and talk radio they listen to.

This is why I'll be getting the OEM. It really stinks they've conjoined VSA with NAVI.

One benefit of an aftermarket, external nav system is that you can take it on trips and put it in your rental car. Or on foot or bicycle. Or in someone else's car. Just way more flexible for usually less money.
