Why do cars always get bigger?
The new Civics are the same size as my old Accord.
The new Accord is huge!
The Fit was the same size as my old Civics. And now it has to get bigger.
Small is beautiful to me.

If I were a Honda engineer, and I had the say for what went... I would have given a 3-stage vtec cylinder head with a dual-runner intake manifold on the front of it.

I wonder if it has roller rockers. That was one major reason I wanted the L15A1. The valve-disabling vtec type traditionally has roller rockers on it, and the traditional type haven't. Then again I haven't been that far into a k-series head so maybe they added it.

Too bad, it lost a lot of the "cute" factor.

Tranny better be compatible with the 1st generation because I want it!

Looks like the hvac selector may have went electric/vac. That would be disappointing if I coudn't do the toggle switch wire hack to disable A/C in defrost.

I must be the only person driving stick who doesn't care about the dead pedal. Had one for seven years in the civic and my foot spent less than two minutes accumulated time on the thing.

Man, watch it SCREAM around those hairpin turns...at, like...15 mph...wow. Underwhelming. My grandma could drive it better than whoever is in the cockpit.

The front doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. The inside looks worse. Is it me, or is stuff too shiny now? I swear, if this interior is as cheap-looking as all the Toyotas I've just test-driven, I'll yell so loud you can hear me in Alaska. One of the best things about the Fit is that it doesn't look like a $16,000 car.

I'm still really pissed off that I can't get an '08 to save my soul. I am not sure if I should go for the '09 or not. I thought it was butt-ugly from the side, but this clip makes me wonder.

That pisses me off too. It's the same with Toyotas. The Corolla is the same size as my old Camry. The matrix is bigger. The Scions are all bigger. The Sequoia! It's as big as New Jersey!

One reason is that WE are getting bigger all the time. If we have small cars we might realize we are FAT and have to do something about it. If we have GIANT cars we can go on feeling small while stuffing our faces.

I thought the '08 Fit was perfect as it was. WHY grow the car when everyone will be looking for smaller cars this year??? #@#(*$)(*@#&

Wow, so many complainers. The car will sell like hotcakes nonetheless! Enjoy your current fits or pick up a slightly used one. I would say that the majority of the forums on the web thinks it looks better. Inside and out.

these photos really make the car look a whole lot better than the ones released by honda (as someone else said above).
There are certainly things in this fit that i wish my fit had - since i switched from a fully loaded camry to the fit it was a big change.
The 09 fit would have been a better transition in terms of having a dead pedal, map lights, seats that could fold flat w/out removing head rests, navi option, and whatever that "real" vtec is. hahha.
Anyways I do not have any buyers remorse over my brand new 08, but I will definatley tell my friends about the new fit.
If its simply an improvement over what's already out, then its totally worth the price tag.

the car looks good from a front 3/4 view, but the profile is still hideous. notice none of TOV's photos show the profile.

i am going to snatch up a set of those stock sport 16" wheels... haha

I feel so stupid saying this, but the Fit actually looks good (not from the side though, its still butt ugly). I read the article from edmunds.com/insideline, and based on what they say, i think that the new fit may be a better choice for many people. I don't know which one i would choose if i had to pick one. I feel so confused and i am really at a loss for words. I don't know, but this fit is gonna be a real contender to the 1st gen fit.

Gotta remember also, most people that will end up buying this car will do so because its good on gas, and its a Honda. Most of them wont really care all that much about looks. Just look how many ugly ass cars are on the road now. We are a small group of Fit owners that really care about our cars more than it just being an econobox.

You're exactly right. Our Fit's look better, but the average new car buyer will just notice the better interior space, accomodations, power, etc.

If I think about all the ugly cars my parents bought over the years, ugh! They obviously cared less about looks for sure lol!

The front end on the 09 to me looks too chiseled, the front on the 08 looks so much sleeker.

Those tail lights need to go - Ford Fusion anyone? Looks so cheap.

Otherwise, looking pretty good. I wish I had those gauges and the MPG display.

At least it's not as bad as the 2nd gen xB compared to the 1st gen. Most of the functional changes are for the good. I would probably have bought one if I could wait that long, but I wanted a Fit back in 2001 when they first came out in Japan. Still want to see what the orange is going to look like in person...

I gotta say, the inside is really hideous.... I'm digging the built in scan gauge, but really everything else about the interior is far inferior to the '07 model...
