No Hybrid Fit to US?

Honda has decided that a new car below Civic will be an absolute hybrid car offered next April. Automotive News Aug18, 2008 I expect the Fit to go back overseas the next year. The oncoming Hyundai hybrid 110 will undercut the Fit by $2500. Honda's subCivic likely to be a mini-AcuraLexus with so many bells and whistles nobody will remember Cadillac except old fogies.

That sucks, but I can kinda see where Honda's coming from on this. Adding capacity just to add another variant of the Fit for American shores, where the Fit is still in its infancy as far as the general public is concerned, doesn't make as much business sense as tooling a factory for a dedicated hybrid model which would be easier to market in the US. Although its bad news for us Fit Fans, Honda has to go with what works best for them, according to the market research they do.
And who knows, the dedicated hybrid might rock more than a Fit hybrid would anyway! *ducks*

I for one will never want a hybrid fit and i cant see why one person would want one?
hmm...i can already get 45+mpg in a 1.5L gasoline engine and why would honda want to put out something that would destroy the civic hybrid?
Lets put this to rest and it will be safe to say there will be NO honda fit hybrid

Shoot. I was going to pass on the 2009 and wait for the Fit Hybrid. Would have paid off my 2007 by then. Have to decide to wait for another Honda hybrid or get the 2009. LOL Maybe we will be luckier north of 49.
Maybe the Fit will be made in NA someday.
