Type-R is a Honda brand, not an Acura brand. Only in the USA did the Type-R become the Type-S - simply because Acura couldn't maintain the performance aspects that a Type-R car defines. This was mainly due to the strict co2 laws in some of the states like SoCal. The rest of the world has Integra Type R, Civic Type R, Accord Type R and NSX Type R.

It should be mentioned that Type-R isn't a company. It's simply a Honda classification.

In Canada we have Tpye-nothing. We don't even have a hatch civic!! Last hatch civic here was 2000, then the civic hatch si (or whatever) in 2001 & 2002. And that was 20k+, did not sell so it was axed. We are denied all the cool stuff because honda Canada is lame. They better do up the Fit right or I'll buy that new Yaris that is on Toyota dealer lots TODAY. Unlike the Fit that's still 6 months away.

Has the new Yaris made it to dealers in the USA yet?

The yaris is a cool looking 5 door hatch. Have a look at toyota.ca. I like the Yaris but am a little scared the front clearane is to little for the winters here. The body extends right to the bottom of the front, forcing you scrape the paint on the 16" ice/snow drift on the road.

Same here in Texas - Last hatch civic here was 2000, then the civic hatch si (or whatever) in 2001 & 2002.

To me, a 3rd time owner of Civic Hatchback, civic hatch si losts the real touch of a Civic Hatchback - the utitlity Mode & flexibility. You can do nothing with civic hatch si, but sit (uncomfortably) in the back. With 20k+, I will buy a seden. Even with less than 20k, I will still buy something other than civic hatch si !!!!!

Honda should be aware that it is civic hatch si that would NOT sell, not the tradiitional Honda Civic!
