What's your best mpg per tank?
Hi Black01,
40-41 is consistent with thetruthaboutcars.com mileage for the 2009 AT. I don't see much info in the EPA threads about Fit year in question. It would be nice to see some 2009 vs older Fit info as the new L15 with i-VTEC puts out more top end HP. I'm skeptical of the 55 MPG claims some post but perhaps these are real on older models or 1.3l and 1.4l models. This recent purchase was all about MPG and replaces my 1989 Golf GL which could do 40.5 on a long trip if well maintained. The Fit handled nicer than Yaris or Matrix and I was able to get a very good price well below invoice. Besides, nothing else looks like a GE with its outrageous pointy nose and swoopy lines.
I feel like most of the bloggers here are half my age...
What are you running? 2009 Sport AT also? 2008?
I'm on my 4th tank. Driving to work 11 miles with some weekend highway miles I got 31.7, 33.5 and 34.6. Looks like I'm headed for another 33-34 MPG this week. Mind you my other cars would be 23-25 MPG for the same activity so this is very impressive. EPA is 33 HWY for the Sport AT vs Base MT at 35. I'm skeptical that the tires and AT cost 2 MPG but manual locks and no cruise control was unthinkable.
I'm still learning about the S mode and how the paddles work. Today I tried staying in 5th on an 11 mile HWY trip and the car seemed to do well on mild 1% hills that in normal AT mode would go into 4th. Other experiments are paddling to near redline in S mode getting up to merging speeds versus granny mode (don't exceed 2500 RPM). Looking at the MPG meter the average seems to not be penalized that much.
Driving 22 miles on the 405 in light traffic the meter shows 44 which adds up to 40 ish. Another trip twice as long was only 1 MPG better, using the meter. I'd expect a trip to Vegas to be low 40s. This does include light AC duty.
One more thing, first 5 miles the MPG is rather lackluster. This car needs to be at operating temperature to shine. As you might suspect I have lots more to say...

I have installed a short ram intake. I'm in a mission now to see what I will get this time. I was able to pull 483.5 miles with 10.571gal refill the last time with alot of effort to hypermile(P&G, FAS, Shutting engine off on stop lights, driving without brakes, over inflated tires(40psi) and cruising at 50-55mph).
Now what I'm trying is to cruise strictly on 55mph on highways without P&G, FAS and shutting off engine, drive w/o brakes just to see what I would get with my intake installed.

here's my new record. 437.4 miles(10.058gal refill) in a tank cruising at 55mph about 85% highway and 15% city with heavy traffic. AC was on and off, I was turning it on when it gets too hot and open window cannot handle the heat.
I'm not too impressed because I was not able to beat my record and was able to pull only 43.487 but I guess this is also because I am now dealing with heavy traffic going home from work which I didn't when my schedule was different. I think the result is okay because I did not put too much effort in getting 43.48mpg..

You mean 55mph not 55ppg
I made 16.8 km/L on a trip from Manila to Subic and back two years ago, fully laden and with driving not really meant for economy. That's 39.648 mpg
I think I used a couple of tanks along the way.
Around Manila streets the best I made was 14.4 km/L - 33.984 mpg. That was when I still had my stock 14" wheels. Best I can make now with my 16" wheels is 13.1 km/L - 30.916 mpg, although admittedly it's been a pretty long time since then.

My mpg per tank went down to 32-33mpg. My car needs valve adjustment. Also when I check my tire pressure today after 3000 miles on my new tires. I discovered that I only have 22-25psi on my front tires. I inflated my tires t0 36-38psi today. I will observe my car this week and see if I will be able to pull bigger numbers. I have not been hypermiling in months since the as prices went down. But I may start it again but it will not be as much as before when I got 45-46mpg. It will start tomorrow
Hello. New Fit owner here.
I just passed 1,000 miles on my Orange 2010 Fit Sport MT, so I'm just getting started. I took two 230-mile long family round trips last weekend, identical route both times. Sometimes on a 2-lane highway and sometimes on the Taconic Parkway and I-84.
First trip was 41.4 mpg and the second was 36.4. First trip it was just me and I was keeping close to 60 mph on the Interstate. Second trip was with 4 people in my Fit and we were running late, so I was clipping along at 70 mph at times on the Interstate.
I do P&G, and usually stay under the speed limit, but never FAS or drafting. Tires are 36psi in front and 33psi in the rear.
Around town, where I have a short commute and don't put on a lot of miles, I get about 28 mpg. I'll be very happy if this keeps up.

Anyways, I finish my tank today and was able to pull only 37mpg and this is with hypermiling. When I hypermile, I usually get 42-45mpg. It sucks, I need the valve clearance adjustment bad.
Marko!
Mabey y sub set up weights about 150 lbs and I'm still in the 40s I have about 25k on my fit so far
Yeah! But i have to live with those harsh sub zero temperatures here in Quebec... Stupid time of the Year!!
Is your Fit A\T like mine or M\T?? My Fit is not so terrible when cruising but city driving just kill it!!
As for the insurances.... I pay a full 2400$ a year for it... WAYYYYYYYY more then my Neon or Mazda both of 'em combined!!!
