1/4 mile times for the Fit

Just outta curiousity, I wonder what the US Fit would run at the drag races? I saw some posts for the Scion xA at 16.9 seconds, altho that may have a modified car. I'd guess the Fit at around 17.3-17.5 seconds at 78-80 MPH, with the 5 speed. Anyone have any info?

From August 2004 edition of Australian WHEELS magazine. These were their best passes.

0-400m(1/4 mile)
Fiesta Ghia (17.3sec@128km)/Barina CD (17.8sec@125km)/Jazz VTi (16.6sec@134km)/Mazda 2 Neo (17.2sec@132km)

The Jazz was a bog stock 1.5L VTEC manual.

Another resource which helps to confirm this time is WongKN's great Jazz article on http://asia.vtec.net/Reviews/JazzVtec/index.html where he tests a stock CVT 1.5 jazz to record a best time of 16.9.

Talking

HAHAHA!!!!!!! I never even thought of a Fit as a car one would ask about 1/4 times.

I'm seeing times posted between 16-18 sec. and I'm thinking that's pretty damn slow. By comparison, a stock GTP (my car) will run mid 12's. But hey, I'm not saying this to be a dick or anything, it's just what I've become used to over the years. I realize the Fit and my current car are two beasts of completely different natures.

I'd be interested in knowing what kind of 1/4 times Mugen and Spoon have been pulling from their Fits???????

I'm sure a Fit that's been gutted and slapped with a supercharger could get into the 12's or maybe even better.

That wouldn't surprise me. Ive seen some Honda Civics that are street driven that can run 12's with no problem. I'd think that once the Fits are being sold here, it won't be long before a tuner gets ahold of one, and it will be a killer on the street. :-)

Just think what that would do to the fuel economy! It's bad enough that people are up in arms about the 30/38 mpg of the North American Fit, can you imagine if you start tuning it for speed? The horror...

By the way, I think slapping a turbo or supercharger sounds great, along with any other mods you can think of.

You're kidding right? There is now way your stock 99 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP runs mid 12's in the 1/4 mile.

I can't personally back that up with slips as I have never gone to a track with my car.

However, most guys that have gone out to the track with a stock GTP have run mid 12's to high 13's.

I'm sure a GTP that has a loaded trunk and passengers, etc. will not see those numbers. A lot of the track guys are usually running on a half tank of gas or less and have cleared out any dead weight for their runs.

Some of the guys with more extensive mods have reported 1/4 miles in high 10's and 11's.

The GTP stock puts out 240hp with 260ft. lbs. of torque. It may not be the fastest out there...but it's certainly no snail.

Well I don't think people will be buying the Fit for its 1/4 mile time.

BTW, most 1/4 mile times that I've seen for a stock GTP ranges in the low to mid 14's. There is absolutely no way a stock GTP can turn a 12 second time.

Well that was my point from the start...the Fit is not designed for 1/4 mile fun...and talking about 1/4 mile times of 18 sec seems a little silly. I'm sure the Fit can be made into a quick little car...but that would take extensive mods and defeat the purpose of why most people would buy the Fit in the first place.

Over on the GTP forums, 1/4 mile times are a hotly debated issue. A lot of people are called out on their 1/4 time claims. Most of the 1/4 times are anywhere between high 10's and 12's. These people are modded pretty well. Whether or not stock is getting 12 or 13 sec or 14 sec is not a debate I want to take on since I've never done the track thing nor really have had any interest in taking my car out to the track.

I believe some people make 1/4 time claims that are legit...and others are full of B.S. I've seen stock claims at 12 and I've seen them as high as 15 sec. It really depends on how well the car is tuned and what condition it is in and how it is driven, etc. My point was that I'm used to hearing lower times from the GTP community over the years....18sec. just seemed silly to me.
